I never tried Dave's ghost pepper sauce. The regular insanity is really bordering on cooking additive rather than condiment. Another borderline one I have is dead heat. It's like Dave's only hotter and it takes longer to build up. That way you don't know how much trouble you're in until it's too late. Great fun. I have full cap, satan's blood and a few from Blair's that will all cause chemical burns to the most callused of pallets. It is interesting to see the containers deteriorating from exposure. That's a quality food product. |

Totally dependent on the food it's being put on, but Frank's or Valentina as a general rule of thumb.

Cholula best tasting hot sauce around. Not the hottest thing around but the taste is very good.

There's a newer stir fry place around my hood. Some Sriracha mixed in with their spicy sauce... Just what the doctor ordered, and definitely not for everyone! The Daves insanity, ghost pepper, etc is for cooking IMHO. Generally I can take very hot and spicy food fine, but there was a wing place in the 'burgh that had "Armageddon" wings, which was one level up from "Thermonuclear". They served them 5 at a time vs 12 for all the other ones. They were insanely hot. I was the only one to even try one that night and even I could only eat 2/3 of a wing. The waitress was impressed. She said most quit after the first bite. My lips were numb, eyes watering, seriously, insanely, hot wings.

When sauces and food get that hot, it's no longer enjoyable for me!

agreeing...I should have exercised better restraint & discretion. while alluring, hot peppers have always been somewhat problematic for me (i.e. getting the oils in one's eyes while kitchen prepping, the aforementioned rear-end, burning esophagus & numbing, inflamed lips that rival any collagen injected divorcee). over the years, I have learned my lesson.
this is the lesson. |

Cholula, Tabasco and Pickapeppa are the go-tos, although always interested in trying others.

You have no idea how hard it is to store everything upside down in my cabinet and in my (ancient or, "vintage") stove top...

I love hot sauce/ California Tortilla has a wall of flame, about 100 sauces you can use while there. Fantastic place to go.
source: https://www.reddit.com/r/spicy/comme..._sauces_at_my/ (Fish Taco, whoa, it's good for fast gourmet, Tacos and Tequila, and Uncle Julios Rio Grande are good for sit down Mexican food if I can posit that in this thread.) Tabasco traditional, chipotle, habanero, and green are excellent in terms of flavor. I also like Iguana Green and Red as well for flavor (picked that taste up during a month of backpacking in the cloud forest and on the beaches of Costa Rica). Dave's and Blair's make good sauces for heat but they have some flavored ones too. Pickapeppa Red is a good all around sauce. I've had some good local ones too when traveling. There's more I'll add to this thread and subject... |

Sriracha and Sriracha Mayo. Both are great. Plus Tabasco whenever Sriracha not available. :)

I prefer Frank’s as well. Hot enough, but still has plenty of flavor.

Sriracha and their Chili Paste are my favorites. Like Cholula on Tacos. Habanero flakes https://habbyflakes.com/ are great for adding a little heat to dishes. Great on eggs. Sometimes I want some heat without much flavor. These flakes are good for that. I have ruined my taste buds as I pretty much need some heat with everything anymore.
