So nice of you to call me “stupid” I am sure in your lifetime you have never done anything dumb at all. Gee, if only I could be like you. Someday….

Right? Funny thing is I get nervous being a passenger in an airplane! And I am a commercial Pilot! Thing is, when I am flying the aircraft, even when I was in combat, I was in control; when I’m sitting in the back of a 737 I am relying on someone else for my safety. I guess the worst would be sitting in the back of a passenger plane next to a Doctor

That’s a really funny story from the outside looking in. I’m sure it wasn’t to funny at the time however. Lol. Thanks for sharing. At least I know I’m not alone when similar things happen to me.

The title of this thread should read, "These things only happen Tumi....". Why am I picturing Dr. Jocke in white lab coat, smiling maniacally at Paul as he enters his examination room, holding a big syringe with a long drill bit attached?

Glad you made it out of this fix, Paul. That is a bit like making hijacking jokes in front of TSA at the airport. Next time maybe explain your circumstance to the first person you interact with at a strange medical office?

Im sorry that happened, but can especially if the provider is not familiar with you. MH issues are self-report and that's largely the "data" they have to go on. Clinics have become increasingly alert as data suggests that a significant number of folks that make an attempt on their lives has visited a healthcare provider in the weeks/months prior to the attempt.

Wow Paul, funny and frightening all at the same time.
Nurse Ratched will just have to wait a little longer to get her way with you.

That must have been a bit scary once you realized that the staff didn't know you were just trying to alleviate your own stress through humor... I still would have given a dollar to see it.

I am glad to see you weren't locked up, but imagine the story you'd have if you had been. Well, that's if they had let you out.

Look on the bright side.

Had it been the Scottish you would now all be wearing kilts and eating haggis.

Altogether a big improvement?

I had to take my father-in-law in for a similar procedure, and at one point the nurse came out to ask me if he was always like that (picture 85 yr old trying to flirt with nurses who are about to see him with his pants down) or was he in need of other care.

There is a thread I did about it, somewhere, it was a few years ago. I wear underwear with long leggings (kind of). Why this is important will be obvious in a minute. It was a hot day here in San Diego and I decided to go to the gym and do some running on the treadmill. I changed in the locker room (of course), and headed out to the line of treadmills. I was running for a while and noticed people, especially ladies, looking at me funny, some even giggling. This is not an unusual occurrence for me, but it seemed rather extensive for some reason… Anyway, after a few minutes, and a mile or so, I noticed the reason…

I had forgotten to put my running shorts on and was jogging on the treadmill, in a large gymnasium, … in my underwear.

How does one gracefully extract himself from such a situation? One doesn’t. I am not sure what was funnier, the site of me running in my underwear or the site of me crawling on all fours back to the locker room.

Only me… These things only happen to me….
