Is that the Sub-C in the lucky drawing that you put the clear caseback on?

Very tempted to try one of these newer GenII versions on my ExpII.
Fr John, if I try it I will let you know how it works/does not work. I wonder if Mr. Priek would consider a RolexForum group discount if enough of us bought one of these at the same time? Just curious. |

Just to confirm, is this for modern subs only, or is the thread / caseback the same from old to new subs? (curious as to whether I'd get away with it on a vintage sub)

I would really like to see my 1575 movement, yea
![]() I mean, the Speedmaster casebacks tend to fit across decades, just wondering if the 16610 caseback will come close to a 1680

The early models used a tapered case-back sealing surface and the gasket was attached to the back... modern references have a groove in the case that the gasket is installed into, so if you go back too far, there is no interchange. Here is the backside of a 1680.......... You can see that the gasket is attached to the back and so this particular clear back won't seal properly.. ![]() I would suspect that if there is a market for a vintage case-back, Thomas could produce one... ![]()

This is an odd question for the Rolex forum, but Thomas does casebacks for the Omega Speedmaster... all of them share a caseback design. The question I have is, does the Seamaster 300 (vintage) share the Speedmaster caseback design? I know some of those vintage Speedmasters including some of the Mk. series actually were delivered with Seamaster casebacks.
Just wondering if I could slap one on a SM300.

That is absolutely beautiful. I would love one for my Submariner, but I would imagine this would void a factory warranty correct?

I have one
I bought a midsize Omega Seamaster Professional with a case back by Thomas. I can certainly vouch for the quality and fit. It is outstanding.

Just curious as to how these clear case backs have held up over time. Can anyone post their experience as a long term owner? Any issues with water resistance over time? What about scratches? Pics would be awesome. Thanks in advance.

Anyone knows if he does transparent casebacks for other vintages besides Rolex and Omega? I thnk I had written to him long ago but didn't hear back.
Also he doesn't seem to explicitly mention Rolex 1680 case backs on his website?

How could a normal person as myself check if the case is still tight enough for no water to leak in? I have a tool to open the rolex, just not sure I'd want to risk having a water leakage, for a lack of closing, to occur.
