I've a feeling Ive is getting a bit carried away with his Apple hyperbole. Vintage watches are as far away from that gadget as, well... the Aston is from the Prius. I rest my case
Agree 100%, and the people who are lining up to buy Apple's new watch likely never had an interest in buying ANY mechanical timepiece in the first place, much less a vintage one (I can just use my iPhone to tell the time ).

As always, keep in mind that the WIS community is a very, very small one already, and the introduction of the latest "smart watch" has little, if any, impact on our interest in vintage timepieces.

If they aren't bragging about battery life it's got to be pretty bad. Maybe if they put plexi on it I could get excited

"Switzerland in trouble"...what about our vintage?

Vincent definitely nailed it. The biggest issue for mechanical watches is the manufacturers ever growing appetite in increasing prices, not competition from gadget watches

depends on the individual......

I love wearing my '67 5513 while driving my '67 Citroen - know both were predominantly hand made with the aid of some machines but not by robots...

then theres those why like to wear their apple/android smart watch whilst driving their Tesla ...

I can see the appeal from both sides but don't see a threat to either side of the market from eachother... they can complement eachother too
