Also, it's commendable that you're so young yet have already made a Rolex purchase on your own. I'd like to see more of that - more folks should start with success young.
Thank you!

That comment just made me read through my post history and man, I forgot about a lot of that stuff haha. I actually just picked up a pre-owned Breitling Colt, but sadly I don't have anywhere to wear it to right now! Getting back on the discussion though, I agree with you about the mainstream youtubers. However, there are a few channels I like, for example HackSmith (I think it's called that) is a channel where they make fictional props in real life that work, and there are a few other investing channels that I like.

Hi,

I am a millenial myself, and from what I see, almost all millenials who have a true passion/admiration for horology, do not fall into that oversized watch trend. Some crossfitters and weightlifters might like humongous G-Shocks (no disrespect at all for either, there's a watch for each person), but that does not explain the whole story. If in an age of technology like the one millenials have been brought up in, an individual happens to like and admire watches or watchmaking, generally I'd say there has been some refined and educated taste involved, many hours of research, and hopefully some understanding of the history of each watch. Otherwise, just have a look at your phone, it's much faster and simple.
A sub has and should (IMO) stay 40mm sized, and Rolex has always evolved under the policy of slow, not quite radical and subtle changes. A 2mm increase in a sub would not feel slow, radical or subtle. But that's just my opinion that I hope carries some truth!!

All best,
P.

Agreed. I’m a millennial and own a BB58 (39mm). Next watch I’ve been eyeing is an Omega Speedmaster 38mm or a Zenith El Primero 38mm

Having said that. They did increase the size of the Explorer when they introduced the II version. They also increased the size of the SD. And hasn't the datejust and OP got bigger over the years. And just last year they brought out a larger yachtmaster.

I sure hope so. Rolex should definitely take it up to 42. Oh and they should discontinue the version without date while they're at it. ;)

I think the Sub is just so 20th Century.

Surely, Rolex could produce a 46mm, digital, dive-computer Submariner for the 21st Century.

They do, it’s called the SubC and SubC Date. With the maxi dial and super case wears like a 42 mm.

I think the supercase was Rolex's way of saying they understand the desire for a bigger Sub but that it is and will always be a 40mm case.

42 mm rolex submariner?

I think the OP would be happier with a big ol ugly Invicta diver. I think they make them up to about 60mm. The home shopping network has an hour devoted to them and they will ship directly to your door. But you have to act quick because the deal only lasts for the first 100 callers!

Such detail, so much metal for the money. People are right, Rolex is overpriced! This is TRUE quality!

I think we're more likely to see a 37mm Sub than a 42mm.

Oh man this is interesting. You got some people who long for the return of the era of smaller watches and others who want bigger. I just got an Explorer II Polar 216570 and feel this is as large as my wrists could handle haha.

My opinion is that Rolex should make BOTH a 40mm and a 42mm Sub. They make multiple sized Yachtmasters, why not subs? The SD43 and the Deep Sea are true divers watches with helium escape valves and heft. I like my Sd43, but wish it sat flatter to the wrist and weighed less than 186grams. I presume the caseback protrusion and thickness emanates from helium escape and depth rating. Most of us never use these as diving watches, so lighter and flatter would be better. Maybe call the 42mm Sub the Seamariner?

Yeah Tudor is the experimental and fun side of Rolex

Tudor also makes watches from brass with a variety of colors

and seeks watches with faux patina and faux rivet bracelets

IMO as a Gen Z (15 years old currently), the submariner is perfectly fine. I would love to get my hands on one some day, with the size being 40mm.

Wow! 15 years old and you already know about good watches.

Respect man.

When I was 15, I cared more about bicycles and trampolines hahaha

But I don’t regret that either.

I’m just impressed

You HAVE to be trolling

This one made me laugh out loud

Pewdiepie?

Come on.

My girls 8 year old little sister talks about that. Why would Rolex change the gmt master or a sub because some pewdiepie thinks it’s boring

If they didn’t do in the humongous watch phase, I can’t see them doing now that tastes are going smaller. A a 7” wrist guy - 40mm is pretty good.

NOW - could I see a 42mm, lower profile Sea Dweller? that might be pretty awesome.

I don’t think Rolex will make a 42mm Submariner. 40mm is a classic, traditional size. I say it will stay that size. Personally , the “Big Watch” looks silly, and I think was a trend. Most people I see wearing one, the watch doesn’t fit them. I feel like they want others to notice their watch. That’s not a reason for me to wear one. Recently, I see more traditional size watches.
