Got the call! What to do with collection?

Yeah omega and OP have to stay. The other two are just beaters. No value. Movado (my first watch I bought after graduating college) and a Steinhart I found on CL for $200 that I use when I’m at the beach.

I’d say $65k. I’d keep the Daytona and LV and move all the rest. Those are difficult to get, the rest is just variations on the same theme.

If you don't wear the Hulk then why keep it? After that one of the GMTs.

Or do what I usually do, talk and think of selling to fund the next one but then never really getting around to it! Congrats on the 5712, hopefully it meets the expectations.

I cannot believe so few say keep the 1655 and vote for ceramics instead. Wow. Sometimes I despair at this forum.

It’s just a Steinhart

HAHAHAHAHAHA I just checked the collection but WITH my glasses on and realised as you replied! I was thinking $60K? The 1655 is worth nearly $20K on its own!
Hilarious.
Note to self. Look. More. Closely.
And don’t. Judge. Too. Quickly.

Lol! Don’t judge the forum. But you have my full permission to judge the Steinhart!! My son likes to bury me in sand at the beach. I’ll do about anything with most of my watches but I draw the line with extreme exposure to sand. A $200 Craigslist find does the trick for that.

I would strongly suggest you sell off the ones I don't particularly love and keep the ones I do.

Seriously, I would rather have a small collection of very special pieces than a large assortment of watches, some of which I don't love. So if you don't love the Hulk or the Kermit, get rid of them. Perhaps you'd like a PM piece sometime? The 5712 is a beaut and a nice diversification from your current collection.

Out of those I'd keep 16710, Kermit, BLNR, and Moonwatch.

I'd keep only the Daytona and the Coke, all the rest may go.

Alternatively have a collection of 3
Daytona
5712
PM watch of your choice

And keep the Steinhart to beat up

Quality over quantity... keep the daytona and either the coke or LV, sell the rest.

Daytona and Kermit (or maybe Hulk instead), ditch the remainder.

Congrats on getting the call! One I've been waiting for 8 months as well. I'll consider myself lucky if I get that call in the next few years!!!

A nice dilemma to have! I think the two green watches overlap in their looks the most, so if you wear the Hulk least that sounds like one to go. With this number of watches do you manage to get decent wrist time with all of them?
As an aside - did you only ask to have the 5712 or were you on a list for that and the 5711 at the same time? It would be interesting to know which is easier to obtain and whether PP stop you having both within a period of time, if you get one.

I´d keep the GMT (not BLNR) and perhaps the Daytona.

Good luck in deciding :-)

I find that when I cross over 4 watches I tend to not give a lot of wrist time to some. Hence I think a consolidation is in order.

I was on the list for blue 5711 and 5712. Truthfully I like the 5712 a lot more. I used to have a white 5711 and it didn’t really do it for me. My AD said they expect to get 1 of each 5711/12 per year if that helps at all.

Can’t agree more , 4 is kind of the limit for me , once you get to 5 it becomes a museum. Nothing wrong with that , I just like to use my watches at least twice a week each.

I'd probably keep a couple of the Rolex, but I really value brand diversity. PJ's suggestion of adding some "alternative" brands sings to me.

This for me, Kermit instead of LVC for you. All worth it for a 5712 at retail!

Yeah I think it may end up being 5712, 16610LV, DaytonaC Speedy, OP, and either BLNR/16710 (not sure which one yet). And mayyyybe if I get the wife on board I’ll keep both GMT’s and just sell hulk. But honestly I think I’d be good with just 1 GMT. I probably won’t wear much besides 5712, Daytona and LV

Daytona and LV and lose the rest. You’re a Nautilus man now. The R-watches are by definition beaters. /sarcasm/notreally

I'd keep the Daytona, Coke, and Hulk. Would also keep the Speedy if it has sentimental value.

I'd keep the Speedy, Daytona, BLNR, and Hulk, as I don't really like the five digit Rolexes and the others.
