Maybe I got lucky but even in Aug 2021 I got a sub date and waited only 3 months with no relationship and didn’t buy anything additional. Fast forward to 2023, I asked for Dj41 in mint green, 4 months later I had it. Be patient, it will come without you having to spend money on other jewelry.

I would not advise this. $3,000 is a lot of money. An AD should be able to get this one for you.

Tutone Sub Dates should not take long to get. At MSRP + TX sales tax the Jomashop price is still close to $2K more…and now you say they’re going to charge tax too.
Unless you just like to burn money I’d wait.

PS: is this really the watch you want? I’m guessing you’ve figured out the the stainless steel sports models are in higher demand than the bi-metal ones. Do you want tutone, or are you settling?

You can definitely get a Sub from an AD with a little patience and certainty a TT Sub. I'd wait and buy new.

I’m a resounding Yes.

What’s $3,000 for something you truly want.

I may try to barter with them on the sales price, or taxes … but my mother taught me at a young age … if you like it, buy it.

Well.......the two tone caught my eye when I was in a Houston AD.

However after some YT video watching, I am coming to perhaps believe that an all steel watch is a better fit for my somewhat rugged activities.

Keep hearing things like "the gold is a scratch magnet" and such.

I want a collection. A collection I can pass down to my children. So Im really actually in the market for 5 or 6 watches. So I cant say that gold is a no-no when I am looking at Rolexes.

But the resounding "no" message of this thread is for sure stopping me right now

No, you can probably pretty close to walk in to an AD you have a relationship with and get that watch in weeks.

How have you decided that you will need to buy more from your AD? This was the first piece offered from 1 AD. No purchase history there. It’s a nice watch at MSRP. Not above MSRP.

i'd do the deal, especially since you have no assurances from an AD. Also keep in mind-- let's say you are able to find an AD willing to work with you and tells you it will be in within a year.....is that 1 year wait worth it for you to save $3k?

I'd negotiate more with JS, see if they would be willing to negotiate on price or tax, or find a better deal with a reputable dealer if I were you.

If you dig. Buy it. Who cares what anyone else thinks?

Opinions are like @$$holes. Everyone has one.
... and they all stink.

It's $3000 over MSRP, but you will have it today. If that is what makes you happy, by all means, do it. Every person on this forum has wasted more money buying watches. They could own a GShock that is more accurate, more functional, and more durable than any Rolex.

People "waste" money on stuff that makes them happy everyday... and it's much dumber stuff than a sweet watch. My neighbor just spent $66,000 on his daughter's wedding. Talk about an utter waste? One day party. Zero lasting "value." Attendees were taking bets on if it would last more than a year or two. They fight like cats and dogs.

It's your money. Life is short. Buy the watch, if it makes you happy.

First of all, I want to give a BIG THANK YOU too ALL of you!!!

I have learned a TON from this website. PLUS, all of you have been so gracious with you time on all my threads, especially this one.

I bought the watch.

It will be here Wednesday morning.

I want to build a collection and as I said in my other thread, I want to buy my "third RV first" and not waste time buying the first two.

I will be buying whatever the AD comes up with, whenever they come up with it. Then I'll be buying another and another. I dont want to waste time on Tudors and whatever just to build up to what the AD may come up with.

So I wont lose on it. Not as long as I hang onto it which I will.

I'll post pics when it gets here.

So dont beat me up too bad... :) Im an instant gratification kind of guy and have the stroke to back it up presently.

2 tones should be easier to obtain from AD as they aren't that sought after. Cast a wide net. Good luck.

MSRP is $15,600.

If I wait a year or two to MAYBE get one from an AD, I'll have to buy $3,000 worth of junk just trying to forge the "relationship", which I can tell you right now, I wont do. I'd rather pay $3k to the grey for the privilege than be on a list and beg anyone for a watch.

So if $3k is an acceptable expense, and I'm ok with a grey warranty instead of a Rolex warranty, do you think thats a deal you would make for this piece?
If the watch you are looking at has the warranty card, you will have the Rolex warranty. Warranty now follows the watch in most places.

LOL, the watch you are buying is pre-owed. Somebody bought it from an AD and flipped it to your reputable grey.

I purchased my Air King (BNIB) from Joma in Aug 2020. They were specific in that it does NOT come with the Rolex guarantee or card. It does come with their warranty. I was OK with that.

Perhaps their policy has since changed, but it is something to consider

I asked them that specific question and they said no.

They said they get all their new inventory from AD's and anything they get from an individual is marketed as pre-owned.

1) that one is pre-owned
2) the guy has 40 posts and 1 feedback from 3 years ago. you're getting discounted for the massive risk in dealing with an unknown. to some it's worth it, to others it's not

to the OP - congrats, just make sure you're buying watches you actually want because you'll be burned fast in this market if you try to flip

Yeah... I am trying to give greater pause in some decisions.

Most of the time I just jump.

Easier that way..

I listened to all the advise here, and it was ALL GOOD, from a group of people that are all smarter than I am on these time pieces.

However its a small premium for me.....I want to get the collection moving......I am nauseated by the primpy little AD sales people and their relationship talk......and I think the inflation destruction of the US dollar is going to decimate my cash sitting in the bank WAY before the $3k I just spent above and beyond the MSRP will ever count for anything. So I might as well leap.
