GMT IIC. I always wanted one. Then I got one. Surprise, I didn't like it. Same with the SubC. Looks great, just not for me.
However, I really like the Explorer II 42mm, when I thought I wouldn't after my experiences with the other two. Go figure. But in the end, it's the old model Subs, GMT's, and my TT Daytona that I like enough to keep...for now...

The 116610 for sure. It looks great in pictures, but in person, I don't like it.

Nice thread - I can empathise totally with the number of failures I've experienced!
I initially had a thing for the Datejust but found it much too small when I tried it on in person and I did not like the jubilee bracelet at all. The alternative, the 16570 Explorer II (which seems to be the most unpopular one in the thread!) had the same effect on me. The polar was uninspiring and I walked off, half-heartedly, with the black dial. It looked good for a while and then I got bored after a few months and then sold it. I thought the 216570 looked awesome in the pics until I saw it in person. The white dial looked rather cartoonish and the black dial was very cool but the orange hand was too in your face. After multiple visits to the AD, I finally chanced upon the Datejust II 116334 blue stick dial, which was the first (and only) Rolex, to sing out to me. I am now finally the proud owner of a Rolex that I actually love! |

I was heart broken over the milgauss with regular sapphire. I was very disappointed that the dial is more matte with a tobacco brown tone. I hear the GV is far more spectacular so I hope I try one on at the AD soon enough. If it sings to me the way the 114060 did then I found my new watch probably from a Trusted seller here though.

AP ROO Black Themes. I loved it in photos and the day I received it (yes I bought it sight unseen) I absolutely hated it! Huge let down. I'll also add the new Top Gun 3880 to that list as well. That watch is a disaster.

Haven't seen it yet, but it's funny I haven't been that fond of the photos

Well to me the 36mm in photos looks perfect but small on my wrist, and the dd2 is the exact opposite. Go figure.

I always thought the Daytona was the nicest looking watch in photos but I did not care for the watch on the wrist. Dial is really busy and I just didn't warm up to the watch.

Heuer chronograph re-edition... I had always thought the three dial Heuer was the perfect watch I would never own, as it was a somewhat limited run watch. I tried one on when a fellow watch enthusiast had one- although it is a very nice looking watch, it felt small compared to my 16800 sub, funnier still, I have small wrists....

Loved the DDii in plat until I went and tried it on in vegas, and tried the 36mm one on right besides it, and like the regular DD better.
