The sapphire crystal had such deep scallop-fractures around the edge, it amazed me that none of them had gone deep enough to compromise the water resistance of the watch.

When my GMT Master II came back from restoration, looking brand new except for a slight "melting" of the Rolex crown on the clasp, I actually "grieved" the loss of all that history.
I have wondered about this. I'm not sure whether I will allow them to do their magic when I finally send it in or not. It almost seems like it would be a different watch. I will probably wait 10 years before I send mine in and by then it will be very worn in. I guess I'll see how I feel at the time but I think I will likely tell them to just take care of the innards.

My GMT II has the normal wear and tear from traveling but nothing RSC couldn't bring back to new. My Tudor DD has some dents, scratches and a little oxidation on the dial. I've learned to appreciate the "lived in" look and patina of vintage pieces. Great knowing that watch worked hard for it's original owner and continues to preform for it's new owner, me.

Thanks, Youssef. It's a non ratcheting type bezel. Great for use as a simple timer.

I don't have any major dents, dings, or scratches on my watch, and I wear it 24/7. I have it at SF RSC for a full service, but no polishing. The last time it was serviced was 1999. The acrylic crystal will be replaced. That's not necessary because of the scratches, but because there might be hairline fractures where it is mounted that could impair the ability of the watch to remain waterproof to its rated depth.

The only visible scratches on the TT Jubilee bracelet are on the clasp. Giovanni at SF RSC agreed that it was better to just leave it alone, and that if I had it polished the clasp would probably have minor scratches again after a couple of months.
