No, it's not. I drive a route that takes me down a fairly steep hill. The speed limit is 35. Unless you ride your brake down the hill you can easily go over 50 MPH. Often the local police will set up radar at the bottom of the hill. My detector picks up this "trap" well in advance and provides me with the "situational awareness" I spoke of earlier. IMO, this trap is very unfair. Although I've never been stopped, I have often thought about asking the officer what his trip is set at. If it's set at anything less than 45 it's just a money grab. If it's set at over 50 you probably deserve what you get. Interestingly, they never, ever, set up the radar at the top of the hill for those going up. Coincidence?
