For starters the Fatboy fuel tank consists of two tank halves welded together (if you will) with a fuel cap on each side and they don't come with a lock.

I don't. I have 10.5-1 compression and it doesn't knock or ping at all with 93 octane

There can only be two logical and possible reasons for this.

Either I don't know you or you have to turn your hearing aid up.

No Harley Davidson Bikes come with a locking gas cap. They are an accessory that can be added after the fact.

Touring models with a center fill have a locking door from the factory

I take that back.....no non touring bikes come with locking gas caps, some flh, touring bikes come with a "fuel door" that does require a key to open to get to the gas cap. That fuel door can be opened with any h-d (barrel) key. The other bikes that have two "caps" have one side that is a fill the other is an anolog fuel guage So enless you add a locking cap under your locking "fuel door" then anyone with a barrel key can tamper with your gas. And on all other models if you do not add a locking cap anyone can.

You beat me to my correction
you still should have a locking cap under the door if you are worried about any tampering

Seems we have a Forum FULL of Harley experts Larry.

Let's make it an instant ban for false information - that might slow some of them down.

I also do not claim to be an "expert".......... although I do work for H-D. Mailman was correct () in the fact that you need a key to open the fuel door on fl's. I was technically correct because this is not the cap, the cap is under the door. Any barrel key will open this door on fl,s any key that is not from an xl in other words. this provides little security.

The bike in question here is a 2008 Fatboy which has an anolog fuel guage on your left (as you sit on the bike) and a non locking gas cap on the right.

I received a voicemail yesterday from the lawyer, asking what facilities/equipment I would need to disassemble the engine for inspection in the event that it couldn't be turned over to me. I'd much prefer to have it delivered to our engine lab so as to work on it at my own pace without the owner or employees of some bike shop, who may have a financial interest in the outcome, breathing down my neck.

Will contact him on Tuesday to see what's going on.
