No way.

Part of that is I don't pay over MSRP - and part of it is that this watch was selling that low just a couple of years ago.

This is a watch that, although is hard to come by these days, is still ultimately mass-produced.

This might be hard to hear for newcomers to Rolex or people trying to get their hands on the watch that don't currently own it, but it's how I personally feel about it.

Supply and demand dictates price and unfortunately MSRP means nothing these days, but that's what happens when supply is restricted on a product that everyone wants, especially in today's social media crazed world.

Now, would I pay 12k if that's what MSRP was raised to? Yes.

Usually I would not pay any premium for a Rolex watch but the LVc and PepC are so unique that I would pay a small premium for them maybe up to 20%.

The ‘hulk’ was an amazing ugly watch. Pre-craziness people wouldn’t touch it; just go back and check posts from a couple years back. So I’m glad this reference is out; much better looking and proportioned from the basic info. shown.

It's taken me some time to get my hands on what is my grail watch, if it goes - then so be it. I'm happy either way

These are awesome shots. I am biased but agree but how good the Pepsi and Hulk are.

I'd rather see Rolex make watches more available, but raise prices to what the market would allow.

Either way, I think that both watches are worth the premium .

Great is you like green dive watches. Many of us tried and failed and cut them loose.

I'm probably going to buck the trend here but I had the 116610LV for about a year and it never become a daily. Obviously this is all my 'in my opinion' ..The green in artificial light didn't look good at all. Especially the bezel insert. Living in the UK you tend to be in artificial light most of the year. You can get some awesome photos for insta in the right light, without a doubt. I do like green, have lots of clothes in green but still found it didn't quite look right. I also found it a bit too flashy & in your face, if I'm honest

If ever I get negative about the 'Hulk' I tend to get flamed by people accusing me of sour grapes because I sold out instead of watching my 'investment' grow. Unfortunately, that says alot about some of the 'collectibles' and collectors nowadays. I paid £6k for mine and at that money it was an absolute peach of a watch. But not for me, so I moved it on.

So, I for one am excited by the prospect of a more well proportioned black dial/green bezel submariner. For that matter I'm excited by a black dial blue bezel sub without a date, but that seems unlikely in SS now.

Nothing wrong with this.

There are many watches that people own that I just don't get, and there have been a few catch and releases throughout my collection. That's part of the hobby!

What I don't like are the comments from people that are just overtly negative ("that is an ugly watch, I don't know why people would like it, etc"). It's as if we can't have different tastes.

Kind of wish I paid the grey prices for it a while back. It's been on my list for a while and I'd rather have this than a Kermit. Now that I'll probably never get it from an AD and never pay 100+% markup makes me a bit sad.

As a current Hulk owner and proponent, I think this is all fair criticism.

I opted for a Pepsi initially over a hulk for much the same reasoning. The Hulk is simply not a great 1-watch collection. However, it is an amazing watch in a bigger collection.

The hulk was a long-term grail for me, and also I love green and work in a casual environment, so it works in my wardrobe and lifestyle perhaps better than most.

Unless you are on a national lockdown, then it is sunny for 3 months straight... but more seriously the weather here has changed hugely since I was a kid, now I expect at least 3/4 days of some sun per week and even in the winter it is much warmer than before and with more sun.

Spot on here. My Hulk is a daily and has been for 2+ years. I love it.
I have no love for the Daytona - at all - and that is an unpopular opinion around here. But I wouldn't call someone else's watch ugly - the Daytona simply isn't for me but the Hulk certainly is.
If this new "Cermit" is a reality it just seems like a lesser watch to me and a strange move by Rolex: a black-faced Hulk.
It would be like launching a blue Skydweller with a plain blue dial instead of the sunburst.

There are plenty of people that hate this watch and would love to see it go. I tend to like watches that not everyone can have / easily obtain at the AD, so anytime a watch that I own is discontinued, I'm all for it.

Obviously all conjecture until Rolex comes out with official word, but I don't see the Hulk continuing on if the recent replacement rings true.
On the top of my wish list; hope it stays (at least one more yr).

I think all of us Hulk owners are.

Like I said in a previous post, I like things that aren't as easily available at the AD.

Only watch that I own now that can be had at the AD is the DD40.
