There is some truth to this, just don't know to what extent. I know my ADs are only expecting 1 more shipment this month, and that's it for the year.

That means the sales for dealers will be horrible for holiday season while the grey dealers will be cleaning up.
I heard there is a shortage of the sports line primarily. Mainly the BLNR & Sub-C Green, but the rest of the watches are still coming in droves as usual.

Very easy to know

It is very easy to know the truth of these comments. Go to a dealer or several and ask if they have for example a Sub. 116610 for immediate delivery. If they have these rumors in stock they are unfounded

Do you know and can you please verify if the AD was provided that information directly from Rolex? Seems like a bad idea with the demand for their watches around the holiday season. Something seems off.

This is absolutely not true. I walked into my AD on Monday and ordered a BLNR. The sales lady spoke to the Rolex rep and confirmed that I would definitely get it before the end of the year.

Let’s see if I understand this correctly. At one of the busiest times of the year for dealers Rolex has decided not to ship any more watches until after the busy season. What would be their reasoning, to tick off their AD’s and potential customers. Heck of a way to run a business.

Who knows for sure, but heard the same from my AD. I've been buying there for 7 years and they've always shot straight w/ me. Plus, their case was as sparsely populated as I've ever seen. Maybe 50% full. Their strategy worked on me because I bought a Rose Gold Daytona. Lol. Actually, I'd wanted that watch for ~ 5 years and got a 12% discount. Felt fairly good about pulling the trigger

I’m telling you (as I’ve posted before), it’s got to be an issue w the production process ... but Rolex would never disclose that

really wonder if it means the new movement subs and GMTs are due in early 2018. seems silly for rolex to have power reserves at about 50 hours when tudor is at 70+

Even if this is the case, and it helps explains their supply issues this year, can you imagine how slowly these will be rolled out next year and the grey prices, it won't be pretty.

very true, since history shows new basel models don't hit the market until at least may....usually later.

I'm not challenging your comment, but how does the 3235 fit in a DJ 41 (which in reality is only 39mm)?

Where do you get that the DJ 41 is 39mm?

My assumption is the back of the case where it unscrews and movement fits in.

I am not a watchmaker by any stretch. My information came to me form a watchmaker at Rolex service center.

I choose to believe him however I am open to other possibilities as I thought the 3235 would be a direct fit as well. Turns out its a bigger movement than the 3135 apparently.

Among all the usual denial and lightweight bickering that occurs with topics like this, are nuggets of truth about the situation. This is one of them.

Rolex wants to sell more TT and PM watches. They want to sell more DJ, EXP and MG....

They also want to slow down the supply of the 'HOT" watches to Greys...those watches were getting flipped out way too much...

So, limit supply of these watches, instruct dealers to hold them for choice clients and push the higher margin and slow moving pieces during the 4th quarter holiday season...

It's Christmas time....Non-Wis shoppers will BUY a Rolex....doesn't have to be a SUB...lol. They don't care enough to wait. A Rolex is a Rolex....and that makes it THE BEST, no matter what model it is...

Not here! Typically there are zero SS sports models on display or available. It’s been that way for around 6+ months

I was in my AD last week ogling the watches and my rep was busy. A manager helped me and we talked about the BLNR I’d bought from them a few months ago.

I’d told him I was only in to ogle, but he went out of his way to let me see a few and try them on. In the course of it he said, ruefully, that they’d just gotten emails or a letter from rolex celebrating a 30% Increase in sales and saying that what they had in stock was it for 2017. No more.

He said, that makes us nicely dressed people who have to say “no” all day to people coming in asking for the Hulk, Daytona, or Batman. He was good humored about it but said what other posters say they’ve been told, that the ADs have to go through the Christmas season with the limited selections they have now.

I know many vets think these are sales tactics but the manager and I were chatting and he knew I wasn’t in the market (for the remainder of 2017, at least : ). I don’t really mind if they are tactics but it seems a lot of us on the forum are hearing a version of the same story.

Not true its the same size and still based on the 30/31 movements.

Cal 3235 28.5mm and 6mm thick, power reserve around 70 hours, extra power-reserve by making the spring-barrel walls thinner plus a longer mainspring.
Cal 3135 28,5mm and 6mm thick,power reserve around 48 hours.

Don't really need the extra PR so not an essential switch for me.

Oh yeah without a question, in the European and Asian markets their is a sports line shortage. But in the US it's primarily those two specific models. Hell even the AP 15400, which was in abundant supply, 6 months ago, is no where to be seen at my AD.

Just buy AP, PP, or RM. or it’s a good time to focus on your GShock collection as Casio usually cranks them out during the holidays.
