I likely never would think about it if there wasn't such vitriol about it online. Don't care that it's there, wouldn't care if it wasn't.

Its part of the signature look and what makes the watch spottable. I personally like it.

Have had two different versions for over two years now. While I never notice it or think about it when looking at my watch and it's almost like it's not even there I think if it actually wasn't there I'd like the watch less for some reason. Makes no sense I know.
Loving my new version in two tone:

I really like the old SMP and PO HE valves but someone on this forum liken the new ones to Reese's peanut butter cups once and I can't unsee it since then.
Fingers crossed for Omega keeping the straight crown in new POs. |

I have a very peculiar relationship with the Seamaster: every time I see a photo I think that the HEV and the case shape look kind of odd/ungainly. Then I remember that I have a NTTD that I like very much, and that has these exact features

I love Seamasters and HEV never bithered me. I think it should always be there, that’s Seamsters trademark!
With this being said I know there are people who hate it and that’s fine! So, Omega should make some limited production without it and all would be happy! Just a quick question, how many people would buy a Rolex Datejust without the cyclops? |

Bought a PO 43.5 6 months ago…actually really like the HEV on that one. Adds some balance to the design, esp. since that watch has an oversized crown.

Well. This thread got me looking at SMP and POs, again.
And now I’m debating between those 2 to go along with the AT I’ve decided on for wifey. |

I have the 43.5 PO. Never loved or hated it and now just part of the design for me.

Such a slippery slope! Omega's really hitting it out of the park. In the market for a Rolex 214270 and having a hard time justifying the purchase given the AT41 ticks all boxes for me and is available new from an AD for pretty much half the price of a discontinued, pre-owned, mint condition 214270.

Can't get used to it and 99% sure I would not ever buy a watch with it.

I have no issue reading the date either, because the cyclops It may not help you, but it is beneficial to some. I may be going out on a limb here, but I'm willing to bet the cyclops helps more people than the HEV.

At this point, it's part of the watch identity, who cares if nobody needs it. I think it would look strange without it. It's funny how people are ok with a chrono pusher, but god forbid you move something that looks the same to the other side!

My husband has a planet ocean, it’s not an issue. It’s part of the brands identity similar to Rolex using a cyclops. Although that serves a better day to day function. It’s still part of the brand.

I just don’t like them. I’m probably in the minority but I hope the Planet Ocean is redesigned along the lines of the Ultra-Deep.

I don’t mind it, I just think it would have looked better if it was recessed into the case instead of sitting on top of it. The planet ocean’s valve crown is prettier because it goes in into the case, and the crown shape is flatter

The Omegas that have an Hev have so now in part as a design element more than anything, as such it works just fine. Looks good and don't mind it. Other watches like the AP Diver have a crown at ten o'clock for the timing ring and no one complains.

The HEV crown is what prevents me from getting any SMP or PO. I prefer the recessed valves similar to the Sea Dwellers.

It's part of the SMP design language and I dig it.

I always felt it’s what makes it unique. When I wear mine I don’t even notice it.

Indifferent and I have a Diver 300. I honestly don’t really notice it anymore.
