Yes, it's a great looking speedy. But $6,500 US with no discount is way too expensive for what is essentially a 311.30.42.30.01.005 that typically sells for around $3K.

This the new era of limited editions for Omega. After the debacle with the Snoopy (kind of how Panerai shot themselves in the foot with the PAM 360 a few years back) they realized that they need a more transparent process. I bet that this is how most brands will release exclusive editions from now on - control the price, distribution, boutique only (cutting out ADs).
Still glad I got one of these. It is much more than a regular Speedmaster IMO. |

I was in bed but I heard that you did not even need to make a deposit to "reserve one"? How many people will back out...what happens then?

Some great features- like the glowing sub dials... but I'd rather than the 1978 original version personally.

Just checked my email and my AD emailed a few of us stating that they would be getting one this summer. I was too slow to respond....another email within the hour saying that someone decided to snag it. Probably for the best...unless it ends up being another snoopy. Then ill be sad ;P.

My thought is that the watch will be sent to the Boutique you selected during the reservation process. If not purchased by the original requester then the watch would be available to the public.

Reserved. Too expensive, but in the end it came down to the following:
-reverse panda dial -all brushed case -applied, old school, logo -old school logo on the crown -old school loopy "Speedmaster" script -radial, beveled and lumed(!) subdials Not sure what this is going to do on the secondary market, and I really don't care. I do know that I haven't loved any modern Speedmaster as much as I love this one.

Looks great but value wise lukewarm (unless you put a price on the /2012 collectible nature). Sold out before I read about it this morning, kind of glad I didn't have to make a decision.

Great looking watch. Being on the west coast it was gone before I could even think about it.

Missed out as I had work get in the way. But I have my FOIS for speedy Tuesday. It suits me just fine. But this is a great looking watch. I would still probably prefer a snoopy or a CK.

I really wanted one, but missed out. I suspect many will buy to resell, but I will not pay a premium...

Probably the first LE Speedmaster I'm actually interested in, but it's too similar to my vanilla 3570.50 Moonwatch for now.
Maybe in a couple years, after I've rounded out the collection a bit more. LE or not, these Speedmaster re-issues can always be picked up second-hand.. But yes, the Speedy Tuesday is just gorgeous.

Rather doubt it will reach the kind of hype & hysteria as Snoopy. The Snoop was unique in its appeal to those who have fond memories of the Peanut comics & the space program. It was very pleasing aesthetically (imo) merging both playful & serious design.
This one is all business. That said, i wouldnt mind getting one as well. But only at msrp. From the look of it, fat chance as it is all sold out. Quote:

For those who think they are late to the party, right about now you can reserve a speedy tuesday limited edition from Omega website. There was a 24 hour confirmation process for the reservations done yesterday so those who did not confirm the reservation by e-mail lost their spot and those watches began to appear on the web site. I was able to reserve one like 1 hour ago but it seems they keep coming from failed reservations. You just need to refresh a lot. Good luck

Nice looking watch. I think it would look great on a bracelet.
Congrats to those who get one now. I will keep my eye out for a pre-loved one in 5 years. |

For me, I still dream heavily about the CK, and this new one doesn't change that. But if I were in the market for the original, I'd definitely hesitate, as there are so many nice details here. |

Personally, I've lost a little bit of respect for Omega over this watch.
Omega have always been criticised for producing too many 'Special Editions' of the Speedmaster. I've never previously had a problem with that as I've always felt that they were justified as they were generally to commemorate certain anniversaries of the space missions etc. This watch however is something quite different. What is it actually celebrating? The fact that a lot of people subscribe to a website??? WOW! To me it smacks of 'Cashing in' or 'making a quick buck' No disrespect to anyone that's ordered one, but to me the watch itself looks cheap - that thin brown strap looks nasty. The fact that it can only be purchased online also makes it a bit 'Gimmicky' to me. I'm sorry Omega but Rolex would never do such a thing. It actually hurts me to write this post as I always previously loved Omega (I own 2 Sea masters) but this has taken the edge off a bit... |
