Is this the coffin? Is this the "normal" delivery experience?

The coffin - slim box with Styrofoam insert, is the standard transport - storage container for a Rolex watch until the watch is purchased at an AD. Then the watch is put in a pretty green box for the buyer to take his/her new watch home.

Very cool, thanks for the clarification.

I'll be honest, seeing it come out of the coffin went a ways to diminishing the blinding wow factor of the amazing ads, perfect pictures and beautiful boutique space. It really is just a watch...

I believe it’s unusual to present the watch to the customer, in the coffin case. They are just shipping containers. My AD does the ceremonial presentation, on a covered tray, of just the unsized watch, where the stickers may or may not have already been removed.

I went to a local AD that had the LeMans and they wouldn't even let me try it on.

Because it’s already been allocated, no doubt. “You can look, but don’t touch!”

I purchased a Day-Date WG mint green dial that was on display. They sent me the box and papers about a month after that.

I guess it varies by AD. Mine doesn’t have more than a dozen or so on display and in fact I could have sworn I saw the same pieces on display during my last three visits in the last three months (including one over this past weekend).

I vividly recall my SA bringing out my watches from the back office - including my most recent DJ mint green that wasn’t on display when I registered interest.
