I voted for the Daytona; if you want to wear something awesome on rubber you have your new RM. plus for your wrist size and build the Daytona fits you so perfectly (judging off all the awesome photos of your Platona)

Only reason I’d go YM is if you feel like you wouldn’t wear the SS because you have the platinum.

Two of my favorite Rolexes. I have loved that YM since it was introduced. The black 126500LN is my “maybe could happen” grail (the YM being out of budget).

If going grey, I would buy the YM, since there isn’t much of a difference with MSRP. And I would cross my fingers to buy the Daytona at MSRP.

Very different ….which one? Thoughts…

If you are already comfortable with the trinity brands, you’ll appreciate PM Rolex much more than the steels. Between steel Daytona or PM Yacht, it will be PM Yacht by far, for several reasons:

1) There is nothing beats the feeling of strapping on a solid gold Rolex.
2) PM Yacht are significantly rarer to sight than a steel Daytona.
3) and way better looking.

When I read the title of your post, my immediate thought was, Daytona …

but when I look at the pictures … dang, that Yacht-Master is a good looking watch.

I’m wondering how I could squeeze that YM into my collection, which already includes an 116500 Black Dial.

My reasoning is simple. You don’t have a Rolex chrono , so you might as well get the nicest one in that price category (IMHO of course)

Same here, Brian, but even I would choose it, over the YM on OF….

The prior 116500 iteration did nothing for me, but the 126500 has completely changed my feelings about the Daytona, to the point that I'm now actually voting for it here.

Ooooh, tricky choice.

I love the YM range (not the II though obviously!), but I’d have to say the Daytona edges it. The new version looks epic.

I really like the new Daytona, but I’m going for the Yachtmaster.

To me it’s just so unique and cool with all of the black and the matte bezel contrasting against the gold. I think it may be the coolest in the current line in some way. If it was within my price range I would absolutely have the YM in the same scenario.

I voted gold YM because:
- I'm a YM fan
- I like gold
- I don't find chronos very legible at a glance, especially the Daytona in fact

However, rose gold is not my favourite and I don't like the oysterflex. So I'm having second thoughts... Ok, maybe the Daytona in this case, but only at retail, not at current secondary market prices.

At this price point aren’t you just buying what you love though? It’s doubtful the bracelet has $9,000 worth of gold weight so even with that “small” of an increase it’s still more than it’s actually “worth”.

That said it would be the YM for me. I think it’s a prettier watch than the Daytona and certainly easier to tell the time with.

It's gonna be a landslide for the Daytona, of course, but that shouldn't matter.

I mean, is looking down and being able to actually tell the time matter?

All seriousness, I am a huge fan of the YM on OF, (although to be fair, I prefer the 42), so I would probably lean that direction- unless you have another OF- in which case, the Daytona.

Don't think you can go wrong with either. Good luck,

From those 2 money aside Daytona as dislike PM watches on rubber bracelets.

But value wise PM >>>>>> SS watch so would
Not pay those crazy “market” prices for a SS Daytona

For me personally one of the toughest questions out there. I love both watches. But if I could only choose one, I'd probably go with the Yachtmaster. Love the oysterflex!

If going grey, as suggested once or twice above, I’d go PM Daytona on OF to get the best of both options presented.

Specifically…

Every time I have tried on the everose YM, I absolutely love it. In person the serrated edges of the bezel really catch the light in contrast to the matte black bezel, dial and strap. I know it's not the most popular, but it's really nice. I wish they made the everose in 42mm.

Hard to say no to any Daytona. I think either one would be great. Daytona a bit more wearable every day. YM a bit more sporty with some flash from the gold.

This is one of the reasons why I wouldn’t choose a modern SS Daytona - it’s “expected,” and it gets hard to separate are you wearing it for you or for “them.” But I’d probably choose the Daytona over the YM.
