Personally i dont like to pay a penny over retail (unless i am buying in an auction to acquire a piece of history)! To each their own so i respect anyone who buys in the grey market. Having said that, i dont believe a 4k premium is worth it....you look like someone who owns a good range of watches now & seem to have flipped/upgraded/exchanged a bunch more. If i were you, i would wait for a couple of more months, my suspicion is that the market will ease. In that time i would recommend you spending half of the premium you are planning to pay, 2k, with an authorized dealer and build a relationship to get yourself ahead in the Submariner supply line. Additionally if you are someone who travels, i would think you can try in places like Dubai where the chances of hitting this model might be higher than in say Cairo!!

Hardly anyone is willing to pay anything realistic or closed to what we all see in the listings and you cannot sell the BLRO on chrono24 as a private seller for anything near those asking prices of $19K..

Plus, there's a 7% chrono fee tax ..

All in all, I don't think that $13K offer is too bad at this moment considering dealers needs to pay the overhead, wages, marketing ..

Just tells those days of a 100% flip are long gone now ..
Hurrah!!

“The situation in EU is getting a lot better for these watches lately.”

Fixed it for you

May have been tongue in cheek. Don't really think we are supposed to post OP's question in the general rolex forum. Suspect that was the point.

Did you check the classifieds on this forum? Some reputable sellers with fair prices.

Him and Brandea are in a contest for most one liners to boost post counts.

No offense to either of them, but yeah, lol.

You seem to be pushing up your post count complaining about them.

I find that hard to believe. DavidSW still has them for $17,575: https://davidsw.com/shop/watch/rolex...ariner-41-132/.

Not at all, it’s just an observation. every other posts is the same few words/one sentence. I was actually being serious, and asking if there was a few guys who got together and said they’d be a welcoming crew.

But hey, cue you to be the odd one (as usual) lol

I would be able to find a thousand pieces and sell him at 16k really. He still can profit 1k+ after buying from me.

I get all my Rolexes from my AD and in more than a decade of collecting I've never sold any of my Rolexes yet, so I admit I'm not closely attuned to the "grey market".

I've heard all around here that DavidSW is the best grey market dealer for Rolexes. That is why I grabbed a link from his website as an example.

If that's not the case, then why are his prices so high? Can someone explain the drastic difference between the so called "$12k market price" for Submariner Dates and DavidSW's $17k price (assuming both are unworn and in pristine condition).

Why don't you give our handsome friend David a call and see how much he's willing to offer you for a brand new sub? That's your market price.

DavidSW is running a business and has a good reputation for being a straight shooter, hence he lists pieces at the absolute highest prices in the market.

I don't know if you're trolling or just being plain unhelpful.

I've owned several successful businesses and I know for a fact that "fishing for meatballs" is not the best way to sustain revenue. There must be a legitimate business reason why DavidSW can justify $5,500 more than the alleged "$12k" grey market price for a Submariner Date. After all, he has a sizeable staff to pay and a floorplan to maintain. There is no way a business owner can make payroll just by "fishing for meatballs".

So it's looking like the "$12k" claim for a 126610LN is actually not true.

The only way "$12k" for a 126610LN would make sense is if the watch is scratched up, missing a couple of links, and has no papers.

That's the wholesale price. Market price would be the price that the end user pays.

Please don't confuse the two.

No my good friend, they are one and the same. What makes you think David has a red-hot line on cheap used submariners? He is purchasing his used watches from the same pool of used watches as everyone else. The current market priced for a used, like new submariner date is around $12k united states freedom tokens.

Care to expand further about this so-called "pool of used watches" that dealers andend-users alike can purchase from?

I have no interest in actually contacting DavidSW to buy anything. Like I said before, I get my Rolexes from a local AD and have been for more than a decade.

I'm merely pointing out those so-called $12k Sub Dates are either:

1. wholesale only (dealer network only, most casual buyers won't have access)
2. scratched up, missing links, and/or have no papers

Happy to be proven wrong. Just share a link to a trusted grey market seller (similar in reputation to DavidSW, OC Watch Guy, Takuya, etc) that has a mint 126610LN for $12k and I'll gladly shut up.

I don’t know David from Adam, but my guess is he paid top dollar for the watches during the run up and doesn’t want to take a loss on them. He also has high overhead, so there’s that too.

Here's one with warranty from 05/2021 in LN condition, box & card with price lowered to $11,500. If I could get one from my AD I would save $700 after tax, out the door. Been waiting since January.
