planet ocean is the lume king compared to my panerai 312, rolex milgauss GV, gmt II and previous owned subs, Antireflective coating makes PO king as well ... weird since it's my "cheapo" beater

And for some additional lume, check out the bezel on my new PloProf:

The bezel is crystal with markers and numerals engraved on the underside and filled with Super-LumiNova.

Well . . . the lume on my GMTIIC TT is not so good. However, I really couldn't care less. I love the watch so much that it is perfect in every other regard.

In fact, I would not trade it for any watch in the world--not even for my PP that my psychic told me not to post pictures of for fear of diminishing my karmic power.

The lume on the black dial GV is blue at the 3,6 & 9. All other markers and hands are green.

I knew about the GV already. I wanted to know about the regular milgauss. Is it all green then given the markers are all the same?

x2. I have an SMP with the sword hands, and it easily has the best lume of any watch I've ever owned, and the legibility is off the charts. It's like wearing a compact clock on my wrist.

My GMT IIc has serviceable lume, but it doesn't seem to hold its "charge" that long. My Sub's is poor. I can't even read the time at a movie theater without struggling. I think this is one area where Rolex could really improve.

It doesn't keep me from enjoying either watch, though.

Of the watches I own the Omega Seamaster & Panerai are by far the best of any of them. For Rolex my best is the Sub LV. Rest are all similar. All my Rolex work fine all night long if you charge them up with bright light first. The worst one is the ladies DJ with sticks. Not enough lume on the dial.

Ball and Traser offers the best lume because of the tritium micro gas tubes technology. This technology provides continuous bright, even light and will work for 12-25 years without fail. Tritium gas vials are inserted on the hands and dial of the watch.

Rolex Lume

Interesting thing I have noticed in regard to the lume quality on the M-series Rolex watches. I have owned the following Rolexes in the M-series, an Oyster Date, 3 Datejusts, a Submariner Date, an Explorer 2 (the new one with the parachrom blue hairspring - passed the "wobble test"), and two different Sea-Dwellers, one purchased over a year and a half ago at the beginning of the M-serial numbers and one purchased last week, which my AD tells me is the last there will be in his shop. Every single watch mentioned above had the lame lume many people are posting about, in fact, the earlier model Sea Dweller was the worst of all the Rolexes mentioned, actually having a "dark spot" in the middle of the minute hand. Really sad for a watch of this price and reputation. But, the more recent Sea-Dweller has lume that literally glows all night! It is the green lume but even in the light, I noticed right away that the application thickness/density was better and more opaque white than any of the other models I have ever had. It lasts as long as my Seamaster Pro Titanium with the Sword hands would last all night and was still readable at 6 am (not bright at 6am but still readable). I can actually still read my new Sea Dweller at 6 am. Also, the Explorer 2 mentioned above was purchased 14 days before this newest Sea-Dweller. It is an M-series with the green lume but it too glowed until 6 am without recharging. Perhaps Rolex actually started listening to consumer opinions and decided to increase the density on some of the lumes, or perhaps they are just "flukes" (accidents of the process they use). I guess I'll never know, but I am happy with my decent luck with this newest Sea-Dweller and the Explorer 2.

I think in your price range you can't go wrong with any maxi-dial like a gmtIIc of coursethe milgauss has blue and green on the same dial which is a cool effect. I own an Omega black bond co-axial and it is as bright as a lighthouse with it's blue lume when charged up with some sunlight...

Ball is definitely the one with the best lume, as far as I have seen..look at pics on the internet.

The attached pic gives a lume comparison for a Seiko, Luminox and Ball, with the Ball being the brightest by far. The other two watches use Tritium paint. The ball uses gas lights.

The firms about 150 years old, and the watches run about 2000-4000 new...

Nothing I have seen is nearly as bright as Omega. My SMP was great but my Planet Ocean is the best/brightest.

I would think it would the Deep Sea. My Sea Dweller has been great.
My three Subs started to fade between 5-10 years. On the
other hand my Speedmaster Pros still do very well in low light.
