My wife switched us from Verizon to AT&T. She said the customer service at Verizon were poor. Now I have an AT&T phone that picks up little, and drops often. Crappy phone service if you ask me. I'd stay with Verizon if you ever need a phone to make a call. My phone is used to prop the door open 99% of the time. AT&T

Forgive me as I believe I read you are an officer, I may have dodged a bullet then. I guess I will simply have to wait and see if Verizon ever gets the Iphone. Thanks.

Ditto, Chris. I have never had any problems with Verizon service. They hhave always been responsive and have been able to resolve any problems quickly.

I also have my landline, TV and internet service with Verizon. And I've been happy with all three of those services as well.

Overseas, my Storm 2 works like a charm, as does my wife's Tour.

If Verizon ever gets the iPhone, I might consider switching, but I've got plenty of apps on my Storm 2. More than I really need.

Well, I have been with Sprint (which was OK, but just...) and earlier today, switched back to AT&T for the iPhone. I am paying less, due to a package deal now for the cellular, plus my existing DSL and telephone service. I am a Machead, have all the different iPods (including the iPod Touch), and so the iPhone was a cinch. Another benefit will be on my upcoming trip to the UK. The iPhone works there - the Sprint phones did not!

So far, all is PERFECT!!!

This is making things difficult for me. I am all things Mac as well and the Iphone seems to be a natural progression but I need it for making calls first. Here in and around the Atlanta area I doubt I would have any real issues, it is the outlying areas that I am concerned about. The concerns are mostly for my daughters as one is in college and the other to start in a year. Thanks.

Had the iPhone, and as much as this is a Apple house, I gave the thing up cause the batt life was soooo poor and the network dragged as well; said bye bye and am on TMobile with a SAMSUNG product, a little better battery than iPhone, but crap in the grand scheme of net use...

Thanks,
Randy

I'll chime in here!!

I have used Nextel/Sprint, TMO and more recently VZW.

If you work/live in a dense structure and have trouble getting a signal, and can't for some reason deploy WIFI. I would highly suggest using a Carrier that uses CDMA Technology. GSM just isn't going to penetrate dense structures.

I work on Tug Boats, So penetrating dense structure is incredibly important to me. I have heard the rumour that VZW is getting the IPhone as well. They now have the Droid which is supposed to be quite a nice device. Does it compare to the IPhone? I've heard that it does. Does it replace it? I doubt it. The Iphone is a great device in need of a reliable network, at least in my area.

Here is the long and short of it. Some carriers are stronger in certain areas than others. I can't help you determine what works best for you in your area. But I can tell you what works for me.

FWIW, I am a happy VZW Customer.

Good luck in your choice.

Wife has a BlackBerry and I have an iPhone. She uses mine every now and then but I never use hers. More apps for iPhone. I'd never use the BB and I used to have one.

Not only is the Droid as good, but Apple recently anounced that they are suing HTC for alleged patent infringement. For any of you out there that might own stock in HTC, I'd keep a close eye on it for a while to see how this pans-out... no joke.

My 2¢ - VZW

I use a BlackBerry & an Aircard for WWAN - both VZW.

I have virtually continuous coverage from Boston to NYC to Chicago.

Even have coverage on most of the farm which is in VERY rural area of NE PA.

NOT the case with most other carriers.

It is more important for me to have access to cell service, than the latest bell or whistle ... so unless there are dramatic improvements with another carrier, I can't imagine abandoning VZW anytime soon.

For reliability & quality ... I doubt you can beat BlackBerry!

That's partly why Verizon is marketing it to "moms" in its current ad campaigns. It's a great device.
Yea, i wish at&t had the Palm pre plus. Because i had been a long time palm user.

if you're happy with verizon, don't switch. it really depends on how good att or verizon coverage is. but for the most part, verizon's coverage is good. i would say that 80% of my iphone friends hate att network.

been saying that for yrs now. i won't believe it til i see it.

on a side note. i love my wife's droid phone. if u compare the droid and the current iphone. it's truly no comparison. iphone lacks a lot of features i like (multi task mainly). i loved iphone when it first came out, but now the competition has caught up. mainly the android.

also, the nexus one for verizon is rumored to come out on the 23rd. that's what i'm getting.

I have had Verizon in the past, good coverage in my area. I currently have AT&T and also have good coverage so it comes down to the phone for me.

I have both a Blackberry (for work) and an iPhone. The BB is okay but the iPhone is just awesome so its AT&T for me.

BTW, at my workplace we also use a lot of aircards (from 3 different carriers). I do find the Verizon aircards are consistantly faster that AT&T's.

Can you still test drive a network, I would look into that. I have been with vzw for a long time but think about switching to att just for the i phone also. I am out of contract and will be hanging in for another month or two just to see how it all shakes out.

But look into testing out att network, maybe the would let ya do it for 15 days or so....

I spoke to a friend of mine and he said that he had heard that Verizon will get the Iphone once they switch over to LTE. Apparently LTE is Long Term Evolution or something like that which will now use some form of GSM which At&t and T-Mobile currently uses. Any techies out there? This is confusing.

Do you know how long people have been saying that? T-mobile is more likely to get the iphone then Verizon. Since the 1st gen iphone came out on cingular, people have been saying "Verizon is getting the Iphone in 2 months, now 2 months have turned into three years and still nothing." I think thats why Verizon got the Palm Pre plus, because Palm and Apple hate each other, because Palm's current CEO Mr. Rubinstein was the one who designed the Iphone for Apple then turned this back on Apple.inc. But for these companies its all about the money, so really anything could happen we just have to wait and see.

had att for years.

(1) LOTS of dropped calls. I will go months w/o one, then have a period of days where i get nothing but dropped

(2) $$$$$$$$$. Nickel and dime to death, highest prices in the Milky Way, and my bills fluxuate like the stock market.

(3) Their customer service is awesome. And should be, considering how expensive they are.

I was planning to switch next month to Sprint, but some peps telling me to go T-Mob. I like Sprint's plan: $x, to anyone, with unlimited data, at any time. Period.

I talked to a cell repair shop last month after finally totalling my beloved Nokia. He said NO QUESTION, BB, not iPhone. He said the kill ration on iphones is about 4:1, usually a cracked screen.

I've had an iPhone for about 3 years now (first gen and second gen). I've also been an AT&T customer for over 10 years. In denser metro areas, 3G speeds are very lacking.

I agree with a lot of the posters -- the iPhone is a great phone. However, its been three years since its release and the competition is catching up. Since you're Verizon, I'd consider waiting a few more months. You should have a few more options by then:

1. Potential iPhone for Verizon
2. Google's Nexus One (google.com/phone) should be available by then
