Anyway here's an article about a diver who had to swin for 24 hours back to shore. It looks like a stainless steel watch but just too far to get a good image of it.

He surely has preseverence and stamina. Hats off to him...

Did you get the opportunity to dive with Jarrod?

Every vacation is a dive trip, so yes I say I dive. Computers are a better tools. And generally don't do well with the DIR lemmings.

Check my avatar for where I've dove.

Certified for about 17 years but took a big break in the middle. Dive regularly now. Paradoxically, dive watches renewed my love of diving!

If you are going abroad to a tropical area it is ideal to take a diving course (PADI Open Water, cmas, GUE Rec 1). Beautiful aquatic life on the reefs and maybe you'll get to explore wrecks.

If you choose PADI, I know you can order the books online and do the theory home before departure. Then you only need a theoretical test instead of doing one or two days with indoor classroom theory. More time to dive.

If you have a chance to do the course in your local area, then theres not much to think about. As Nike's slogan says: Just Do It

Its great fun, and you'll meet lots of wonderful people

Open water scuba instructor learnt my trade in Fiji. Unlimited visibilty. Last dive was a wreck dive in January whilst in New Caledonia. Don't dive as much as I would like too due to kids, wife, mortgage, job etc.

I just got back from a week in Palau, the blue corner is one of the best dives out there, it was fantastic.

I dont wear watches when diving, we either use computers or just wing it.

PADI Open Water here. Mostly I solo dive shallow reefs in the Keys. New DSSD owner and long time Rolex owner. used to wear my GMTII (16710) all the time but anymore just use G-Shocks. May have to take the DSSD down.

46 years old, 67 dives (thanks to you, had the opportunity to check).

NATO strap, so can I wear it with my diving suit.

Adam you have some FANTASTIC diving in your backyard! I dove Kingston ALL the time! You have plenty of Wrecks...and with the zebra mussel invasion the visibility is great now. I dove your area for 15 years maybe more. The only issue is it is cold. I dove either a 1/4" wetsuit or a drysuit depending on my mood. I would stay at the Marina downtown. I would drive my dive boat in from Clayton NY and sleep on board.

I was certified in '93 and used to dive a lot back then, as I lived near Cancun. After a long break (~8 yrs) I went diving last year in Cape Town a few of times and got my advanced open water cert. Prior to heading to Cape Town I went into a dive shop and asked to see the diving tables. The person at the desk looked at me funny and said most people dive with computers nowadays. I ended up getting a Suunto D6, which I think eliminates the need for a watch, unless you want a backup.

A backup is always smart, and speaking of a Rolex Sub, it's quite a nice subject for pretty pictures underwater
