I have both and I'd get a Sub over the Seamaster if I could only have one.

I've been eyeing the new PO 8500 for quite some time, tried on the old PO several times, hasnt got the chance to see the new one in flesh. From my experience, i find the submariner more classic and better looking on the wrist for sure, even with the new maxi case fat lugs, the PO lugs design just didnt do it for me, its how the lugs and the end link meets that i dont like. Don't get me wrong, the PO is a nice watch and i could see myself someday have one. But if i were in your position, definitely sub over PO.

i'd say rolex. but i think you may be buying it for the wrong reasons. that's just my opinion, of course. but, yeah, i'd go with the rolex.

We can't really compare Rolex to Omega... Mechanically speaking a toyota Camry is better than a Mercedes, Audi, or, BMW.

If you want a fine watch go for the Rolex!

Absolutely I vote DSSD. If not then I would say SubC but either way Rolex! I wear a Sub daily and it's the nicest all around watch I've ever owned. I could have gone Omega a number of times over but the Rolex just has it all. I would like to own an 8500 PO but I would always go Rolex first if I could only swing one.

Well IMHO if money is no object get the 1 you like. The seamaster used is always about 1/2 the price of the Submariner and at times 1/3. Its a matter of opinion what is the better of the 2.

Your honesty is refreshing.
that said, you should buy Rolex's biggest watch, the DSSD.

Get whatever that makes you happy. You're asking this in a Rolex forum, you will get some biased answer to your Q's :)

I'd say screw the sub and get the SD

Been reading the post and someone mentioned that an Omega is . . .

We'll most of the TRF'ers also own a Speedy because it's a great watch and good looking !

Maybe you can't compare them with a Rolex . . . but a nice Pre-Moon . . Mmmmmm

Love them !

If money doesn't matter . . . go for the DSSD . . .

My .02

Good luck

I agree 100 % with Chris (The GMT Master) - the new Omega PO is a fantastic watch and should be seriously considered as a rival to the Sub.

So today while out seeing Spider-Man (great reboot BTW) I tried on these bad boys

And I must say that my hearts a little broken.

As much as I wanted a DateJust it's really not the watch for me. It has plenty of bling but it just didn't feel right.

I listened to your suggestions and tried on the Submariner and the Sea Dweller. At first I didn't care about any other Rolex besides the DJ but now I want a Sub or SD REAL BAD!! Preferablly the Dweller because it is larger but I'd be happy with either.

BUT..

That Planet Ocean.. That watch is a PROBLEM! I loved it! I went in having my mind already made up about going Rolex but after trying on the Planet Ocean I'm stuck.

I loved the weight of the PO. The Rolex feel extremely light on me wrist but the PO felt like it was there. Not heavy but it's almost feel like my wrist is naked when wearing the Rolex, well at least the Sub. But with that said the feel of the Rolex is something I could get used to, it's just a different feeling than what I'm used to. I guess the PO felt more familiar to my wrist. But man am I in a conundrum.

I have the money to get a slightly used or even new PO right now but probably not for a used SUB or SD. All three are great watches but I would hat the feeling of regret of buying the PO just because I can definitely afford one and later on kick myself in the but for not waiting and getting one of the Rolex. I may not regret it but I don't know if I'm ready to make that gamble.

If anyone has both your thoughts on this would be useful.

Have any of you went from a Rolex to a PO or PO to Rolex?

How was it? What was your reasoning?

For those who tried on both what made you buy or fall for the watch you own or want to own?

Get an omega and you will always dream of the Rolex.

Get a Rolex and never dream of an omega.

Although it is a great watch, wearing a Rolex opens more doors.

I like the subs but it is a very common watch.

I am liking even more the GMT's. More rare and with the ceramic - perfect choice!

The first two lines..... WILD. Comments like this really blows my mind. Rolex is not the king of the world and does not open more doors. What doors are you referring to? Like aroom full of naked women asking to see your Rolex watch... Lol.

Now maybe it could be cause I'm used to bigger watches. I have a Bulova Precionist and I-Gucci as my main watches but my Gucci was bigger than even the Submariner. I'm knew to the whole HIGHER watch class but I wasn't really expecting the DJ to be that small. Now maybe it's me (I'm 6ft 240lbs, built like a football player) to why it seemed so small but I really was just shocked about the size.

I tried on multiple watches. I never really cared much for the Submariner but after trying it on, and the Deep Sea, I really grew quite fond of them in the mere matter of moments that I had it on, so much that I'm thinking of switching up.

While at the store I was told that I should check out the Seamaster if I was going to go the Submariner route. The person said it was a comparable watch and that I may like it better.

Now being honest I want one of two (three if you include the DJ) for all the evil of owning one. I want to be flashy. I want to be seen. I want it to be noticed. I want to go to a club and a woman who knows her style to see my watch and know what I'm about. I want it to get respect. I want to be apart of the exclusive expensive watch club. I want to be popular among those who know their watches. I want to use the watch for evil and naughty things (Just being truthful)

It's going to be one of these watches. Can someone tell me which they feel is the best watch and why? I'm not talking about the best watch for my look but for all the reasons stated above.

In the words from the great Batman The Dark Knight Trailer said by Bane, "It has begun"!!
Its the SUB no doubt. thats what you need buddy.

The Day Date just isn't working for me. I love the look but my wrist felt like it was going to swallow the watch.
