What a shame to not take it with you......wherever that is??

Box it up, and stick it in the bank if you must be absent from it.

PS: Will, why leave the crown open???

Thanks for all the help!!!

I went to a AD today and they said best thing to do would be put it away safe and have my wife wind it manually once a month until I am back. How does that sound??

From all the responses I think I want to just leave it in my safety box and come home to it asap!

Thanks again!

One more thing, If I was to have my wife wind it once a month. How many times should she actually wind it? I have heard 20-30 and also 30-40 times is enough.

Thanks

What does "trolling" mean when it comes to the forums? Because I think my definition and his definition of "trolling" are two completely different things.

Unless you're a refugee on a time table, I don't see why anyone would need to leave a country for 2 years and be forced to leave a Rolex at home.

No background or any offer of an explanation.

Now that is bad advice why would you want to pull the crown out to store any mechanical watch when the movements spring is run down its stopped.

Wait, you're leaving your wife too for two years?

Get her to wear it, problem solved.

He is asking for advice, I don't think he owe anyone any "explanation" to satisfy their unrestraint curiousity.

Just leave it in the box it came in and forget about it.

Asking your wife to wind it once a month for 24 months is idiotic. When you get back it'll be covered in greasy fingerprints, the crown will be cross threaded and it'll probably have been dropped at least twice.

I recalled some discussions before about having watches kept in the safe and not winding, could risk the lubricants in the watch solidify and the watch not function properly. Maybe it's best to keep it in the safe, not touching it for the duration of your absence, and have it serviced by Rolex when you are ready to use it?
