It sounds like you know the information I'm after....someone above referenced that to be white, it had to be gold originally but faded....it sure looks uniformly white, and my AD said it was white when new (he sold it new in 2002)...so does Rolex make these with original White or does it have to be gold, as stated above? If Rolex only makes gold it makes me question my AD, I would never get rid if the white insert because its the original on the watch....is it "valuable" because its white, or just because its the original bezel (ie even if it were gold and faded to white)?

hi i read here on the forum that the early model originally had the white printing and then on later models rolex stopped making the white ones and changed to the gold. sub date owners want the blue/white inserts to replace their black inserts for a bit of variety. others want them to return their early watch to original spec.

do you have the plain stainless clasp (early) or the one with the gold running through it (later)?

There is gold running through the clasp.....not sure when that change happened...i entered the serial number at Rolexand found that this watch was manufactured 2001...there is surprisingly little info available online as far as I can find addressing the color of the writing on the bezel....

Ahh. Well, yes. It is a beautiful watch. Yes. The aluminum inserts can be changed pretty easily.

My Y serial TT sub also has the silver writing, but it has a gold lume pip surround. I like the silver writing a little better actually.

On your two tone sub it should be gold on the bezel not white.
