Depends on rounding tollerances!! For unintelligent people such as myself, simplification is worth 10 cents to the pound!

1. You are not permitted to own anything other than Rolex (not even a G-Shock)

2. You are starting from scratch (no holding onto anything for sentimental reasons)

3. You are never allowed to sell, so future value is not relevant

4. You don't have to spend it all, but you spend it or lose it

5. You can be a little pragmatic with pricing, but keep it real!

6. Please include your rationale

I will kick things off; will be interesting to see if I change my mind after seeing what you guys go for!

(1) Sea Dweller 16600 (weekend beater, on a bund) - £4,500

(2) Sea Dweller 116600 (daily wearer, on a bracelet) - £6,900

(3) Milisub 5517 (pure indulgence, on a NATO) - £38,600

It was a very tight call between the Milisub and the Platona, but the Milisub is more 'me' and it's just that little more special.

Go for it guys

this....

and this....

and this....

my choices vary on a daily basis, but right now this seems to be the most rational choice for my 100k to be spent on rolex watches:

wg daytona with racing or slate dial and an additional leather strap. (20k)
wg sub (30k)
yg gmt (25k)
white face milgauss (7k)
subc (8k)
a dressier dj on jubilee with fluted bezel for the occasional suit and tie event. not sure of the dial there are so many options.

and if there is some change remaining
a thc

For the record it's more like £60k in the UK.

114060 - £4.5k
214270 - £3.5k
116300 white baton - £4k
116610LV - £5.5k
218239 - £18k

All from UK grey dealers. Logic is simply 2 casual and 2 dressy watches. I like the Hulk for a bit of colour. I prefer green to blue so no WG sub.

I have £14.5k left and like you said I can't keep it or anything so I went on chrono 24 and found a mint 116718 that's about 6 years old but still it's probably what I'd go for. Wouldn't buy it in normal circumstances and if I can put £14.5k in a watch bank account for servicing and insurance then I'd rather do that. Not sure if that's allowed though.

I would just get a vintage Paul Newman, but with the crazy prices nowadays, 100k might not enough. So I would get a platinum daytona and sky dweller, like someone mentioned above.

Yes I can see.... The extra £10,000 you miscalculated could easily buy you another nice watch!

Even at retail I wouldn't spend US$100,000. My choices would be:

GMT Master II 116719BLRO - $38,250 (I might even buy another plane if I had this)
Sea Dweller 116600 - $10,400 (all the dive watch I will ever need)
Day-Date President 118238 - $31,350 (dressy and flashy, yes; but I love this watch, even for everyday)
Datejust SS/WG 116234 - $7,850 (for when I want a dressy watch that's more subtle than the DD)
Explorer 214270 - $6,550 (a good tool watch for knocking around; edged out the OP)

Grand total for my choices: $94,400

Perhaps someone else can use the $5,600 I didn't use in their list.

White Gold Sub - $22K

GMT BLNR - $8K

Rolex Explorer I 36mm Version - $3K

I would put down 100K and finance the rest over 1-2 years for this...

Why? Because I'm good enough. I'm smart enough. And doggone it, people like me...

Easy enough;

YMII (WG)
New Pepsi GMT (WG)
Sky Dweller (WG)
Sea Dweller

Seems like that should do it.

I would stick with my pieces, so..

1. Sub C LN - $8k
2. DSSD - $12k
3. YG Daytona - $25k

leaves me with $55,000 to play with so I get

4. WG Meteorite Daytona on strap - $15k

and maybe..

5. GMT II Pepsi C - $40k or YG SKY DWELLER

Think I would get six Datejust: two yg, two tt, and two ss. All would have different dials.
