In these cases I ask WWANPD (What would a normal person do?) you know, the regular, non WIS folks who have a Rolex. I would suspect that carrying the receipt for their watch has never even entered their mind.

Went to Canada from the U.S. recently. Traveling with a new Rolex — less than a month old. Brought the bill of sale with me, just in case. Don't know if that was the best thing to do. In any case, no problems b/c nobody asked.

I have a question about the insurance. Let's say I have my Daytona insured with, I don't know, State Farm or something. I go overseas and the Taliban gives me a thrashing in a dark alley and I wake up lying in the middle of the road wearing only my skivvies and no watch.

Do I need to provide some kind of evidence that the watch was stolen? And if I am reimbursed, do I get the MSRP of a new Daytona at that time or only what I paid for it?

how you are paid will be spelled out in your policy and i am sure will differ from company to company. if your watch is stolen you will file a police report and that should be all that is required for the insurance company to pay the claim. all of these questions can be answered in detail buy you insurance agent. all of ours are insured for replacement value with no depreciation but appreciation is covered in case the watch has gone up in value. always cover all bases when dealing with insurance companies, they like to depreciate things and anything else they can think of in order to pay less. state farm had no problem doing it for me on a personal articles policy.
