Two thoughts... Colt Automatic or Metal G shock. The Atomic time thing is awesome, my gshock is always synched up to time.gov whenever I check it.

If you want a really cheap and nice watch try Vostok Amphibia. I wear for water skiing, snorkeling, snow, swimming pool, sailing....
And is nearly indestructible!
I love it's vintage look, with plexy, very simply movement but works amazingly well.
When I bought it was with the idea to throw it away after one year and it's now five years to six. I had to change the original bezel to the aluminum Seiko style and now is beautiful IMO.

+1 for the Amphibia - they're built like tanks and look great.

Define cheap, for me its anything under $300 for some of the members here anything under $5000 is a beater. One man's beater is another man's grail. I wear a Seiko Black or Orange Monster when I am doing activities that may cause damage to my watch.
By the way my son bought my now deceased father in law a Timex for one of his birthdays, years later my wife found it in its original box in a drawer. When she questioned her father why he wasn't wearing his watch his answer was he didn't want to mess up a good watch.

I thoughts thats why Rolex made SS watches. Im only half joking.

I have put my watches through "extreme" outdoor conditions without issue.

I just dont believe or need a cheap/inexpensive watch

Sad bout losing your watch, especially in Barcelona. I always felt like it was a very safe city. That being said, it could happen anywhere, Just be aware of your surroundings and wear the watch you feel comfortable with.

excellent point...with no common ground, this OT borders on the abstract.

to me, a cheap/beater is something along the lines of a $40.00 Timex/Casio.

the next level might be a Seiko or Citizen within in the $150.00-$300.00 range but all things considered, they're hardly 'beaters' to be abused or trashed...unless one has no genuine concept of the dollar sign.

calling Tudors & Tags 'beaters' is more a reflection/indication of the owner/practitioner's arrogance & disposable income.

all watches, whether it's a Timex or a Rolex should be treated with a certain degree of care & common sense.

My Hulk is my cheap watch. But both are insured so I wear them both wherever I want.

Got to go with my trusty GShock. Used while working at the bar, at the gym, been a very reliable piece.

Not exactly cheap per say but I wear it when the surroundings are sketchier or if I know there might be some wear and tear, 2531.80:

My 2231.80 has been beaten to hell and back in the 16+ years of service so I wear that one as well but these days trying to preserve it a bit more as it's my first luxury watch:

We were also robbed in Barca when I was a kid so I understand a little trepidation. This forum is rather surreal where £2k is relatively cheap but in the real world for an expendable watch I wouldn't spend more than a couple of hundred quid if that.

Traser H3 on NATO strap, which allows easy/quick/cheap change of strap colour for different moods!
