6 digits < 5 digits < 4 digits....I keep going the other way towards all 4 digits references. I love the thin cases, flatter case backs and lighter/thinner bracelets.
Do not take me wrong, I really like the looks of many of the 6 digit references, love them in pictures, I just do not like the way they wear and feel on me. Honestly it would be much easier if I did. Vintage pieces are much harder and generally more expensive to source. |

When I see the 6-digits worn around me, I feel perfectly fine with my two 5-digits watches.
For me, switching would not be an upgrade.

Nope. If anything, I'd go older. As I just mentioned in another thread, the new ceramic Daytona is the only Rolex I can think of that I like better than its predecessor (and I'd still rather have a vintage Daytona.)

I like the 5 digits in every category. Don't know how they even sell those 6ers.

The 5 digit Sub is a more versatile watch. You can dress it up or stay casual.

I used to feel that way but this forum has educated me and provided me with a strong appreciation for the attributes associated with the 5 digit references. They have a lot to offer and are simply different than their 6 digit siblings.

I have a six digit SD and I find myself wishing i had got the 5 digit version. My only expirence with a 5 digit was with a 36m exp and I know this is going to sound crazy buy I liked the old clasp better then I like my glidlock. Something about the old clasp just feels more Rolex to me. There is no new Rolex I'd buy.

![]() I think five-digit Rolexes are awesome. I love the lighter bracelets and slimmer lugs. I also love six-digit models, their solid bracelets and ceramic bezels are great. I wear them both, depending on what I feel like wearing on a given day. My five-digit Sub. Still awesome. ![]() |

Here's my 1964 A-K 5501 (34mm) up against the 2016 six-digit model (40mm). All that remains is the Air-King font.

No doubt six digit models are nicer/more refined watches. That said, for me, five digit models are where it's at. The few exception being the Daytona, Datejust/Day Date.

I prefer the newer upgrades but my first Rolex was a 16610. The 5 digit references have a charm that is just different from the modern references.

Fives for me; one six fills my needs. I really like the fives in general much better.

So far have all 5s. (6 of them to be exact: 3 Daytona, 2GMT, 1 lv sub). I think they look and feel like what a Rolex is supposed to be. I am am kind nostalgic when it comes to Rolex watches. Even the new Daytona C doesn't appeal to me at all. BUT, I do admit that the newest DJ and DD appeal to me because of the larger size only. I sold a 5-digit DJ because it wasn't a good match for my size wrist. If and when a 6 comes along I like, I could get, but will keep all the 5s anyway.

I'd also be going in the opposite direction. Love me those log holes!

I had a five digit GMT2, that I never wore because I always chose the 6 digits over it. So I let it go.

No interest in 6 digits. I'm not swayed by the newer braclets either, I guess I have no problem with swelling wrists.

Having both is best of both worlds obviously. However, to me, 5-digit feels better on wrist.

I'm in the minority here but I think six is better than five.
Flipped my "Fat Lady'' GMT 2 for the new ceramic version which I think is so much more durable, comfortable and good-looking. Not to mention cheaper to service. It was the only "5-ref'' that I owned and will likely own; the other five are all new "6-refs''. |

I'd rather save and just add versus flipping to do an upgrade.

I definite no from me. I would not buy a new Submariner or GMT II until the Maxi Case is a thing of the past.
