For a one and only I think you'd make a great choice.

As an only Patek I think it's an awesome watch! In a collection of others mine struggled to get wrist time and I had to move it along. YMMV

5167 is quite versatile as an only Patek in a watch collection, although you will see many who claim a 5711 is a better option as an only Patek. Both are great watches in themselves with the 5167 priced a bit less than the 5711 as you may know.

If you have an existing Rolex collection, the tropical rubber strap will be a nice alternative to mix it up a bit.

You'd be surprised what custom knife makers get for the pieces. Well into the thousands for pocket knives. Then if talk custom cutlery the prices go way up! They are art just like watches and the demand drives the prices in the custom market. Wait times are far greater for the masters' pieces and make Patek 5711 wait times laughable.

Keep in mind we are talking high prices for just a piece of metal. No moving parts of anything technical envolved other than the skill to make them which is what drives the prices.

It's my only Patek, and fortunately for my budget the Patek's that I really like are some of their cheapest pieces. I know the Aquanaut lives in the shadow of the Nautilus, but I find the dial far more interesting and prefer the sportier look.

Nautilus > Aquanaut, for me. My opinion doesn't mean anything to you though. If you like the Aquanaut, go for it.

Well you might have seen in other threads, I pulled the trigger on the 5167a. From my original post, I was really sold on the numerals. Like others on here mentioned, the tropical is awesomely comfortable!
