I'd prefer fluted, but I don't think that will have much bearing on value.

Jewelry vs tool watch?

I like my scratches. I like my watch showing wear.

Sport vs dress?

It's all about what you are looking for.

Fluted is the way to go I think. Think that model was meant to be more dressy than sporty. Can't go wrong either way.

36mm fluted jubilee. 41 bezels are still too big.

I don't think smooth or fluted bezel will play into the future desirability of a watch. On price, maybe only because the gold fluted bezel is already more expensive.

I think you ought to have at least one of the DJ's signifiers so either the fluted or the jubilee, of course you've made the smart move with the smooth bezel and saved the £1.5K... I'm now gonna try that one on again

Neil, I think I can honestly say that's the first time anyone has ever used the words "smart move" in referring to me and watches.

I think that fluted bezels are absolutely stunning... which is why I would probably opt for a smooth with jubilee. The fluted bezel throws light around like crazy, and is just super flashy. I'm not a very flashy person, so I wouldn't be comfortable wearing it.

My preference is the fluted with jubilee band. It's so classic Rolex.

Like the fluted bezel better, has been the Rolex standard for years. I would be concerned about the smooth bezel being prone to scratching.

Having said that I ordered the smooth bezel. I am going for a more contemporary and sleek look than a traditional heritage look (going oyster bracelet as well). While the fluted bezel can be worn casually, I felt the aesthetic lends itself more to the formal end of the spectrum given its "flash and sparkle". Personal taste really as I'm certain many will disagree. In any case I feel the smooth bezel can be a touch more casual when dressed down and has all the presence necessary to be a great dressed up piece too. One downside I've read many people worried about is scratches. I don't know that this is a major problem or not but it's not something I'm stressed about.

Which will be more valued in time? Who knows but probably the fluted bezel (and jubilee bracelet). That's my guess. I don't much care though. It's not an investment for me, it's a keeper and a symbol of many personally important things. If I want or must sell it one day I'll cross that bridge then. I'm not buying for resale or investment purposes.

⬆️⬆️⬆️⬆️ Agree ! I actually started with the fluted and traded to the smooth for these exact reasons. I have the DJ II, as I prefer the aesthetics a little better. I think it shows more to the the sporty/casual side than the DJ41.

I'm usually a flutted guy, but this is gorgeous. Nice!

Personally, I would never own a DJ that wasn't fluted with a jubilee.

Fluted with oyster as I think jubilee is too classic and it limits wearing the watch to suits. Which is fine of you have other watches

Since threads with pictures are more fun - here are a couple pics of DJ41's I recently tried. Cheers!

I feel ya. Honestly, I went fluted just because I can't deal with scratches on the smooth bezel.

Fluted for me just works on a date just. Aside from contending with scratches on a smooth bezel, fluted has that iconic look and is in my mind a little dressier.

If I wanted more casual, I would choose a different piece.

I tried smooth / rhodium / oyster earlier in the week and decided that I really wanted fluted, like many others here I'd be worried about scratching the smooth bezel.

The fluted was harder to find at an AD in London (I was being quoted waiting times of 6 months to unknown) but I managed to find one and am pleased I did, the bezel looks great.
