I want to work for you.

In my company, there are 3 of about 30 (10%).

(1) CEO wears YG DD gold dial (very bling, but looks great on him) - his wife gave it to him, and he deserves it.

(2) QA/QC Director (she) wears ladies TT DJ jubilee

(3) Me (VP BizDev) and my SS GMT IIc

Most physicians are very frugal and not very "showy". In fact I feel a little strange when I wear it to the office. I keep it well hidden under my cuff and jacket...

Me, I am the boss. I wear the Sd every day. I am a treasure hunter. Most people who divwe with me have some rolies, but most G shock or some other new fangled device. They think my taste in wacth is excentric until they see my double hoswe regs that I use.

My company is very big and it's parent company is enormous, so I can't tell how many folks have Rolexes; but in my plant of about 140 employees, I am the only person who has any Rolexes.

I work for an IT company with less than 20 people and I am the only one to wear a Rolex. They joke about me having one, but I don't think anyone really cares that I wear one.

The school that I work at employs about 100 people. As far as I know there is only one Rollie wearer and he is my technician in the Science dept. I do not wear my watches for work, some pupils know what they are and then too much time is taken up on "how much did that cost? or you must be rich etc. All of that gets in the way of what I am trying to do. It is a bit of a socialist environment and so it does not do to have obvious statements of disposable income. My sons go to a private school and I get too many questions about why do I educate them privately but work in the public sector. The sensible people realise about the extra opportunities but many think it just being snobby.
As my wife and I earn the money, we believe that we can spend it on what we like.
It is interesting to note that smoking 20 cigarrettes per day for 2 years costs you approx the same price as a new Sub date!!

Rant over!

Head of IT (me) - Submariner Date
Head of Production - GMT
Head of Branding - Lady Platty
Head of TV in our London office - Submariner LV

We're all heads of departments - but that means nothing - we're all nice folk too!

No one wears a Rolex at my work place. I'm in the Army so I see a lot of digital watches. I've seen 1 Rolex in the 16 years that I've been in.

i'm the only one with a rolex. most of my coworkers like expensive suits and they tell me how expensive they are. i wear different rolexes every sinlge day of the week. so the new thing in the office now is not looking at suits but looking at my wrist. on the other hand i think i influenced them. their thinking of buying ones themselves

Interesting comment about it being a socialist environment. Just curious if the school you work at, is in a lower socio-economic area.

talk about a closed minded Doctor... Hard to believe one would say that as (imho) they all rob you! and as I think back, seen 3 animal vets, a few pepole doctors ( I don't go to the Dr much) fellow office worker has a Blusey, JLG, Pannarai, our dirctor wears an old GMT of which he wears ever day!

I have those brands too, but it's hard to make myself take the Rollie off.
I know what you mean there as I too have a friend of over 30 years who knows I have bought and still buy Rolex. He on the other hand has a Seiko quartz and is on the top of the mountain with all that plated yellow stuff on it..... But, again as you and other have said he does not share the passion of knowing I'm wearing a ROLEX of which he says... it's only a watch! my reply is yup your right and I keep on trucking!!!!!

Well I never noted how many Rolex's are at work until I got mine. I work for a Police Departent as a Detective in the Intel Division. After I got my SD, I noted, 2 Daytona's, 8 subs and 2 SD's. Most of the Rolex's are worn by Detectives however 2 uniforms wear subs on patrol, they are not married, no kids and still live home with thier parents, so I guess they have nothing better to spend thier money on.

For me, tonight is the 50th Birthday party, out of the 88 persons coming, there will be 2 Daytona's, 2 -2 tone ladies subs, 1 mans sub and my SD. Not too bad.
Be Safe JIM

Robert, Do you know how much a diplomat makes while stationed here in D.C. Well I need to rephrase this... I personally knew a foreign military who was stationed here as Staff... he banked his normal salary back in his home country and lived well off what per deim they paid him. This is all about 10 yrs ago now but, he picked up a ss dj of which he kept in it's box and didn't wear it much at all. He did however buy a new BMW of which he was going and did in fact take back with him and resold it making a hansome profit. Basicly I think I'm trying to say is they make bunches of $$$$ working out of their home country.
