In the UK at least it wasn't long ago these were hovering around £3k but now they seem to be consistently offered over £4k. Possibly due to the pound taking a tumble but I agree it's also due to a lack of availability in other models.

A lot of people are getting hung up on the limited stainless steel factor, but I believe there's more to it than just that. I believe the case sizes play a major role, I know me personally prefer the smaller 40mm case vs the new 42. Dials are different, GMT hand is different, etc.

I think SS 5 digits in general are going up because its a dying breed Rolex will likely never go back to this size, and even if they did they will not be the same. Of course, the explorer II is different than GMT noone is arguing that, however functionality and internally wise, they are nearly the same which is a big deal IMO. Supply and demand at its finest, and with Rolex no longer producing any of these 5 digit SS models (GMT, explorer, submariner) its hard for me to say its only a bubble

I was in Bloomingdale's during Christmas time and they had a couple of pre-owned Rolex's, including a polar 16570.

The asking price was $7,000.

I couldn't believe they were trying to sell a pre-owned Rolex for the same price as a new one! It wasn't even in good condition and I'm pretty sure something was wrong with the magnifying cyclops.

I have seen that the pre owned full set and good condition 16570 price is getting closer to the bigger brother 42mm. Difficult to explain but it is happening

I like my polar with the 3186 movement, it is an awesome watch.

Among the 6 Rolex I bought around this time last year it’s value has inflated the least though.

i can confirm that is the case for me. i waited to make a decision until i could try them on side by side.

i actually would have preferred to buy new and was not bothered at all by the changes like the orange GMT and wider hands.

100% it was the fit of the 16570.

I see a rise in price especially if Rolex makes a change to the line at Basel World. New model means older ones are pushed back toward vintage status. Talk of a ceramic bezel on a new Exp II would fit with what Rolex has been doing.

When not wearing a Chronograph my go to watch is the Exp II Black dial.

I also see prices going up on 16570‘s. It seems to be a general trend, with an emphasis on the Polar’s. Also, the curve seems steeper in Europe (GER/SUI/..).

That being said, I like the watch. Two time zones, the rugged looks, date window, non-obvious strap queen, couldn’t ask for more.

I had a chance to spend a couple of weeks with a 16570 and I loved it. I think there could be a bit of a lift for early models and maybe even the later transitional ones. Cheers.
