I have not gone diving yet, but I have read that this glide lock feature is part of the sub bracelet so that you can quickly resize the bracelet to fit over a diving suit

Food for thought.
great information! Thanks

I remember reading about the glide lock system. I believe it adds 5mm of adjustment to the bracelet?

With your slight 6.25" wrists, the 39mm size of the ExpI is as big as I'd recommend going, anyway.
I agree. The Explorer I is probably Rolex's most versatile watch and sounds perfect for your lifestyle, as it's rugged and dresses up or down. If I could have only one watch, it would likely be the Explorer I. If I were to have other watches but only one Rolex, while the Explorer I would be in the running, I would probably go for a 114060.

I like the rhodium sans diamonds most of the DJs, but for one only probably a Submariner.

Sounds like you’ll need two.
A sub and a dj. Which is a perfect combo, imo. Covers all (most) bases

If you really, really want a ONE AND ONLY Rolex, then you must follow these steps carefully:

Step 1. Buy the Sub or GMT

Step 2. Never return to this site again

#2 would be my choice for an only. It's both rugged and attractive. Subs to me start to look vanilla after a bit.

Not sure a better everyday watch than a Submariner exists.

You have a 6.25” wrist - 214270 Explorer is perfect (6.75” wrist here). Good luck and enjoy!

I would get the Submariner but the No Date version, 114060. Save a couple of thousand dollars and have what I consider one of the best looking, well balanced dials ever created.

“First and only” is not going to happen !

Get a nice pre-owned Submariner, save the remainder of your budget for the nice pre-owned DateJust 41 you’re going to get within 1-2 years !

That’s a seriously good photo of the SubC Date. It photographs very very well.

My vote goes to that one. It’s probably the most versatile watch ever made.

I think a SUB date or no date will be a perfect choice.

Regarding a DJ with diamond markers, I personally think that for a man's watch the diamond markers look good only in the baguette form that you find in a Day Date.

Nah, mine is The SS 16710 from 2000. Ceramic is reportedly tougher than my aluminum bezel. More resistant to scratches, but more expensive to replace should you somehow mar it.

Thank you everyone for the replies of encouragement. It really is appreciated. now to start saving up. my only issue with buying used is determining a good price for a LNIB or a NIB. I have seen a DJ41 w/diamonds NIB and the jubilee bracelet for $9400 but it had the black face which would have saved me $1,400 from the somewhat local shop (2 1/2 hours away from me)that is a pretty good savings. will have to do a lot more research and whom to buy from. Thanks again
