its very bright blue. I don't know if thats a pro or a con long term. Normally i would say i might get tired of the dial but on this watch i might just deal with it

Same could be said about a 3700 and a 5711

Anytime anyone asks me about the nature of watch collecting I say the same thing.

A hobby strictly for lunatics.

I like that blue.

I wish Patek would put a little extra attention into their moons. AP has much more detail. Throw in a crater or two!

Hard to argue that. I’ve felt the same way for awhile. AP and Lange handle them there. Such an easy fix too.

I like the simple moon… though I am a sucker for a face on the moon.

And you get a seconds hand with the cheaper one, but not with the more expensive one...

I agree if the moon was like the AP perpetual it would be even more awesome. I think the new PC Nautilus is nice but still rather have my steel 5711 and 5712 Tiffany instead of the new nautilus..

I never understand why it is a that big deal if it is 60m or 120m water resistent. What do you really do with Patek’s more than washing your hands or swimming ?

Many are uncomfortable swimming with less than 100m WR. It is a hotly debated topic and I gather always will be

I’m looking at the new 5740G thinking that’s a busy dial! I’m sure it will grow on me but it raises a question - is a perpetual that doesn’t show the actual year really a Perpetual? Yes I know it tracks the leap year and therefore tracks the correct date for February (which is the essence of being a perpetual) but many watches these days go further and display the actual year.

Not much has been said about the lack of a second hand on what is part of the “sports” range from PP. I know it’s because the in-house 240 movement doesn’t have allow for that but not sure many people have picked up on that fact that it will be missing.

Hasn’t stopped me ordering one though...

The 240 movement was picked to keep it thin. That will be terrific. I have several watches with no second hand and after a while, no big deal.

Yes I agree. Would rather have a thinner case over a seconds hand. I can’t wait to get one..

Other things I wish to learn from the 5740 release. It would be nice to see live photos in this forum.

1. When do you think would the first lot be out to the market?

2. Where would it be released first?

I missed having a seconds hand on my 5140p and my 5130p. Loved both watches, though.

July will be the first batch released to U.K. customers. Well done on being given an allocation in this batch.

I think the next piece will be the Patek 5722 Pilot's Nautilus. Will look something like the attached prototype I whipped up.
