I initially thought the 5235 AC Regulator is unique and a future collectible piece. Now I am unsure. Why? They’re just plenty (subjective) on sale in some sites.

I was not enamored with the 5524g Pilot Travel Time as well. I think one has a better bet on the 5164a. (I own one).

Lately I had a change of heart. I’ll rather go for a RG 5230 World Time. It can pass as a dress watch easily compared to the other two. Sourcing a 5230 is not that difficult given it is a refresh from the previous models.

I just want to not see a lot of 5524's around, what they are selling for isnt important.
I hardly see any popular Nauts or Aquas for sale there anymore, but always see this bunch of 5524s so that puts me off as it doesn't seem rare at all, just have to pony up a few extra grand. Maybe the RG will reduce supply in future.

I was going to say I hardly see 15202s there too but there's one up now and I can see why, £23K for a 2014! These are really in play now.

The problem I see with the 5235 is that it’s a little quirky, so a bit of a niche market. That’s fine if you keep production low, and that keeps owners of the 5235 happy when they see the waiting list. But Patek has to produce the 5235 in volume to recover development costs of the new caliber. So your left with a niche product that’s been (relatively) over produced and that becomes a hard sell.

I prefer the 5990 over the 5524G. Hopefully your AD can get one for you soon

Thanks Sam - I’ve got a 5990 lined up for December. The issue is selling the 5524. I had an overseas buyer interested, but when looking at shipping I can’t find a courier that will provide insurance for a watch of that value, so there are practical issues I hadn’t considered.

I could try the UK grey dealers but I’m sure I’d take quite a hit from them.

Why not get a quote from WF and maybe Watchclub? Curious to see what their spreads are.

I contacted Watchfinder - they are not buying the 5524 until they’ve moved some existing stock of this model (they have 3) which seems fair enough.

I would guess (and it’s purely that) they would offer something around the £35k mark.

Maybe try Official watches, they deal more in high end so may have fairer prices or maybe they've been WF-ed too.
