Daytona with the baguette dial. I don't like Daytona's in general but seen this one in real life and an absolute stunner.

Don't worry about value retention, when you own this one you can sell all your SS watches, these will get no more wrist time

(Great collection btw )

OP, you already have 2 daytona but have no DD yet.

I would then recommend a DD. Which is also my holly grail in platinum, by the way and which I prefer over a Platona.

Now, both are stunning pieces.

Platona is probably more popular, my guess.
Value retention depends on the usual. - bought new or used? What kind of discount etc.

Personally I’m not a huge Daytona fan so I’d go DD40

I've never had the pleasure of seeing a Platona in person. Is the bezel really brown color? I always thought it was just the way the light was hitting it in photos. Why did they decide to go brown on this model?

Yes it’s like a brown red oxblood type color. Absolutely gorgeous. Not sure why they didn’t do a black bezel, but it is special.

If you’re not changing anything in your collection, I’d go DD.
Couple points I’d consider, if choosing between the two....
-The DD will show more wear on the bezel, but the bracelet hides scratches well. -The Daytona, just the opposite.
-The DD a bit more elegant vs a sportier Daytona
-Both are gorgeous, but I’d say the Daytona is more interesting to look at (with brown sub-dial version)

If I had your collection.....I’d trade the Daytona’s you have towards a YG DD40, and purchase the platinum Daytona. JMO
Good luck!

Yes but with varying percentages!
The Pepsi and deep blue get 80% of my wrist time. The rest compete for the other 20

The platinum DD40 is amazing - no question. However, the DD experience needs a fluted bezel...and in rose or yellow gold. That’s the iconic look.
Between the two listed, I voted platinum DD40 because you don’t have a DD.

Personally, and based on your collection, I’d sell one of the 2 SS Daytona’s and buy a Platona and a DD40 in Everose.

Personal taste is always interesting. The smooth bezel on the DD is literally the only reason I’d consider it. If it was offered on my 228235 I wouldn’t have hesitated.

In that case there must be some variation, because the one I tried on had a flat-toned, mid-brown bezel. Pretty unappetizing, to my eyes, at least.

Wow, that's beautiful! I think I like it being unique like that. They might have done it to distinctly make the Platinum model stand out from its SS relative. I think I'm gonna have to vote for the Platona!

It's a dull flat brown, the photos here are what you see:

I think the DD40 Pt looks plain in comparison to the Daytona 50th!!! I made the same decision not too long ago. The Daytona won out. For a DD I'd like a scalloped bezel.

DD for me if I would choose. Frankly I think the SS Daytona C white somewhat makes the platona a lot less desirable. After its introduction the platona is no longer in my dream watch list.

The one I tried on at an AD early 2018 was stunning! But I'm not much for DD models so I may be biased.
