Get it if you like it. Don’t get it just because it’s a deal.

I like it. But I agree with others not to buy just because it’s a deal.

WG--very nice

Slate/red--not so much and hard to read

Brown/tan gator stamped leather strap--that's a no

I think it's a great watch; I agree the strap is switchable and relatively easily done.

OP, don’t want to be rude but your picture is probably the most distasteful one of this specific reference that can be found online ;)

It is a superb watch and you can change the dial and strap to many other variations. With the 116519 on leather you buy a lot of different watches in one when you change the dial/strap.
Keep in mind that doing that is a lot easier in Europe compared to US though!

I had this dial with darker strap a while ago, will search for picture.

I’d buy that in a heartbeat and put it on the black rubber b with red stitching.

What we have here is a terrible picture of a beautiful watch with an ugly brown strap.

I owned the WG Daytona on OF with the silver dial and it was a beautiful watch. The only dial and bezel combo I would own in WG for a Daytona. The rest just dont do it for me.

Then again it depends on the discount you get and whether or not you can easily recoup that money if you had to sell if you werent convinced on it....

I owned this watch and put it on an aftermarket strap. I loved it. The only thing I would say is make sure you love a Daytona on a strap since this particular Daytona can only be on a strap.

Your money, your choice, but since you asked ; I think the Arabic Racing dials are the best Daytona options, but the brown strap looks off to me ....I prefer this version:

but even better on a bracelet:
I am currently considering selling all except one SS to consolidate to either this particular Daytona or a DD40 in WG. Best dial together with the newer steel panda imao.

Regarding the grey Daytona, never seen in real life but to me it seems to lack contrast and so the dial gets cluttered, same with the blue Daytona which is very nice but as it lacks that contrast on the sub-dials which makes Daytona so attractive.

What year is this watch?
Keep in mind the old Superluminova slate dials are much more interesting then newer Chromalight ones. In the right strenght of daylight the superluminova arabics have some kind of bright purple hue, looks amazing on slate backround, very hard to photograph. The chromalight versions dont do that. I have had them both.

It's a cool watch but rather usurped for me by the new OF version.

Two excellent points of view by two guys who would definitely know.

Good point, Neil. I have to admit, I would (and did) go OF in WG. But, if the price on this watch is truly a "deal," then this would be a very attractive alternative.

Thanks Larry

Found some pics of the exact combo. I had this strap on my 116515 and its fantastic with the deployant clasp

Looks like a watch put together by LEGO to me!

Certainly does not have the wow factor of the other versions I have seen, and the nice reverse panda one I saw here?

The AD in Madeira had several of this older PM models in the window display.

Oh wow, Scott...does that ever look good! I just don't think many of the naysayers are giving this watch the credit it deserves...IMO. That dial with the right strap combination is a real show stopper.

Version I had, Looks good but wears smaller than I expected.

Op- you could try rubber b band instead of brown strap. Price would have to be great.

Cool dial, but not for me. Definitely would want to swap out the bracelet.

It’s all about what YOU prefer! Don’t buy something just because it is at a “discount”!

I don’t think these can be had with discounts. And I’ve seen quite a bit of them so not that rare at least in CA.

I can’t thank the members enough for all of your helpful comments. I was able to negotiate one heck of a deal & changed that strap right away! What a difference! It’s not easy to photograph but I think you will notice the transformation :)

The first photo with the dirty bezel didn't help its looks. It looks terrific now!!! What strap do you have on it? Congratulations!!!
