I would not buy the oyster BLNR for the current inflated Chrono24 prices. Pre-Basel prices of the 116710 BLNR already increased a lot, the market was anticipating the BLNR would be discontinued. The 116710 BLNR is produced for 5 years in massive quantities. A lot of Batmans will be around on the second hand market for many years to come. Just have patience. |

Very surprised at how many people think the discontinued BLNR will go down in value. Most watch bloggers and journalists have said the exact opposite and I agree with them. The first iteration BLNR was:
- The first Rolex with a bicolor ceramic bezel. - The only Rolex ever with a bicolor ceramic bezel on an Ouster bracelet. - The first Rolex with black and blue colors. - More popular than the Jubilee at a rate of about 70% to 30%. - No longer in production. - Capable of being equipped with a Jubilee or an Oyster whereas the new one can only be equipped with a Jubilee. I see the prices only continuing to trend upward.

That part is false. It's the only all-stainless Rolex with a bicolor ceramic bezel on an Oyster bracelet. However, there have been four WG Pepsis on Oyster, as well as the RG and TT root beers.

True, I meant on a stainless Oyster.

Also, while I'm at it...
If I read you right, that number is based on one YouTube channel's unscientific viewer's poll. That comes with a pretty big margin of error - and that's being generous, since margins of error really only apply to scientifically conducted polls. A poll like the one you cite has no statistical validity. Quote:
You might be right, but your data requires a lot of qualification. Given that, and that you own one, I have to question if you're objective in your assessment. |

Most conversations always gear to the value of a watch. No matter how much we enjoy the watch enjoy horology we always comeback and want to the know the value of the watch. Whether it’s a vintage piece or modern. So I don’t see what’s wrong with people asking about value...present and future. I get it enjoy the watch get what you like don’t look at it being an investment. But most people who spend $10K+ on a watch no matter their net worth will always weigh the odds and make sure this is the right decision. Will the BLNR continue on this crazy upward trend in price who knows ask me this question in 5yrs.
