Here is my 35 years+ old Seiko (Lord Matic, 25 Jewels Auto)which happens to be my 1st watch that I've received from my parets as a present in '73. The bracelet is aftermarket but watch still finctions. Although I do not use this watch but I'm thinking about getting a complete overhaul.

Seiko 6309 from July of 1979 I just fished out of the bay. I have wanted one like this for a while. Needs a new crystal but the dial is like new. Paulie, it was lunch money

Oh man, can't believe I missed this thread. I LOVE vintage Seiko divers...got really into them a few years ago. Hunted for all original movement, dial, hands & bezel examples...believe it or not takes some time to find these as most have replaced bezels from years of hard work. These just sit in their case these days, but I don't have the heart to get rid of them.

Top (left to right):
1976 6105-8110, 1982 6309-729B (the rare orange dial 729B...this took me a while to track down, 17-jewel movement), 1978 6306-7001 (what makes this rare is the '6' in the 6306 meaning it looked identical to the U.S. market 6309, yet known as the "Japanese Cousin" to the 6309 as it was only sold in Japan and had a 21-jewel hacking movement running at 21,600 bph).

Bottom: Not vintage but still great IMO, 2006 7S26-0020

My favorite - 6105 'Big Cushion' 8110 from my birth year of '76:

Love the domed crystal

'82 6309-729B

Japanese Only Market '78 6306-7001

Present day 7S26-0020 (my wife loves wearing this one)

OMG, Do you know how rare that 6309 729B is It is the Comex of Seiko's. Super Watch And that 6306 is the Bomb . I had a 729B but it had a 729A caseback. I should have never let it go. If you ever want to sell it please let me know

Ha, ha, I'm going to show your post to my wife. She loves wearing my 7S26 because of the orange dial, but I can't tell you how many times she's walked out w/ the 729B on and says, "I like the vintage look of this one better." I always tell her instantly to take it off and return it to the case as it doesn't leave the house. She doesn't really understand the degree of rarity and could care less what she bounces it off of. Just for you Jim, here's a few more shots of the 729B (I've got to line up the chapter ring...I didn't do a good job of lining it up the last time the watch was apart):

I'll keep you in mind...I have thought about selling all of them except my '76 6105 (got to keep that one because of the birth year). But every time I get close to putting them on the selling block, I just can't do it.

Thank you for the pics. Gives me goose pumps just looking at it. Other then a 6217 mas you have all the sought after ones. It is neat that they are easy to work on also. Kind a like an old Chevy or Ford from the 70's. Seiko's are way underated watches. If a guy looks hard the deals are still out there. Thanks for sharing

Yep...you obviously know me. When I was big into my acquisition stage of these watches, I looked everywhere for a 6217MAS, but couldn't find an all original example in decent shape. I found one that was pretty beat up for a little more than $1K, but decided to pass. Sure enough examples like that are now pushing $2K. It's crazy to think these watches were selling for less than $200 around 10 years ago...talk about going through the roof. Then again, I guess it's all relative when you look at what vintage Subs were bringing in 10 years ago and what they cost these days. Cheers.

Seiko sports

These vintage Seiko's are very under valued at the moment imo, although a lot more people are wakeing up to them now, just fabulous watches for very little money and on a par for quality and accuracy as most good Swiss watches. These I have found at markets and car boots over the years for a few bucks and take them out for a run now and then
