I have the RG with olive. When I tried the WG with olive I thought the dial got “lost” in the watch. Also I’m shallow and want my DD to look like gold...

Can't go wrong either way. If I had to choose I would go for white gold (if possible with the olive dial).

Another vote for RG olive dial. I have this and it's my favorite.

Unpopular opinion: For the DD40, WG is just a stepping stone on your way to a platinum DD. If you're going to do a DD in a white metal, go all the way. Otherwise go with RG or YG.

Same logic applies to the WG Daytona (from the posts around here, I suspect the Platona is more popular).

FWIW I think WG looks great in watches like the Smurf, etc. I just would never choose WG if a platinum model was offered since I would feel the need to upgrade (for the weight) later. Steel to gold is HUGE weight increase. WG to platinum is a further weight increase. Feels really nice on the wrist.

I can agree with this except if you don't want a blue dial and prefer the olive, if you prefer the olive and fluted bezel then the platinum wouldn't be a contender, i chose the WG40 over all the available DD models.

When I was shopping around I was surprised you could get the Olive dial with the platinum DD40. Still no fluted bezel though.
