You can blame the French Navy for that

Finally, some pictures!

When you order something sight unseen, there’s always a chance it won’t ring your bells in person. Well, at last I picked up the Black Bay 58 the other day from Feldmar’s.

If the bells rang any louder, it would give me a migraine!

It is simply splendid. A classic dive watch, beautifully rendered. It is my first Tudor and I am impressed. My watch came on the “soft touch” strap, giving a rather suede look. A unique strap look, and sets off the piece very well. Quite comfortable and easy to adjust. And, secure.

I ordered the NATO strap, too, and await its delivery. I wouldn’t want to take the soft touch strap in the water and this is a perfect vacation watch, the perfect weekend watch. And, of course, a fine everyday watch.

If you like a diver style watch, and especially if you are drawn to old school divers, this is a winner. As Tudor notes in advertising, it’s a good fit for slim wrists like mine.

The blue dial and bezel are wonderful classic colors and a cool alternative to traditional black. No crown guards, a large crown, another nod to old school divers. It gives the watch a very clean, simple look, and, it’s practical, too...easy to operate. The unidirectional aluminum bezel rotates smoothly and with those ear pleasing little clicks. You can feel and hear the bezel click smartly into place, perfectly aligned. And, securely. That’s important if actually used for diving, a pastime I hope to take up later this year.

The price point, which may be described as vintage, too. About twenty years ago, you could get a Submariner at this price.

The over all build quality is excellent. I have a 14060M and a 16610, the last of the five digit Submariner and Submariner Date. The Tudor holds its own with both of these, apart from depth resistance, 200 meters rather than 300.

However, even that depth resistance is a classic number, too...consider the Submariner 5513. And, at most I would only do occasional recreational dives...or, even, more likely, conduct daring exploration of a deep...hotel pool. So, 200 meters has me covered. If I ever go 200 meters, something’s gone wrong and I’m probably not coming back up!

The lume is excellent, easy to read and pleasing to the eye.

Last, and not least, the watch keeps the time!

If you’re considering this model, I highly recommend it.

I'll post the pictures momentarily.

Congrats on your new purchase!
Congratulations on your purchase, too! Sorry the bracelet isn't working for you. Still, it looks very well on you.

The soft touch strap is comfortable. I'm waiting for the NATO, which was $175.

Check them out. They're in LA on Pico, east of Doheny. Appointment only, these Covid days. Wide range of brands. They don't carry Rolex, but recently became an AD for Tudor.

I have been considering selling my Omega Seamaster 300 Co-Axial and buying a BB. They just look so good and they are thinner.

I will. I know the neighborhood well. Went to Hamilton High not too far away.
