Is there actually any tax to pay on the gains if you bought the watch through a site like DSW that accepts bitcoin as payment?

Yes there would be a tax consequence to any sale or transfer of BTC.

about the rolex bubble, I am not buying this watch because I expect it to be an investment. I am buying this watch because I do not think I will be able to buy it from an AD while Rolex is still making it. and I have a way to justify it to myself using what was once a very small amount of money comparatively.

The only play in white gold is the DD40/DD2. Rolex hoes all its WG sports models with cheaper releases a few years later. See WG Pepsi and Skydweller.

99.9% of the public will think it's steel. Might as well buy steel LOL

Exactly. Buy and wear what you like regardless of what others think. The GMTII Meteorite is a very special watch. If you appreciate it, great. If you don’t, leave it to someone that does. It’s my favorite watch hands down.

Many people on this forum just heard you want to buy tulips. I say you already bought the tulips now it's time to buy the watch. Nice job!

I used to think like this until I looked at Monero and understood how a currency like Bitcoin will not be used as money long term because it is not fungible. I'm preparing for the flippening

I think it will take longer to get the watch than you will wait

I would flip crypto profits into a watch myself. So if you're fortunate to have bought in early why not? Obviously if there are more pressing matters that the money could be used for than do that.

I don’t understand the question … you’re asking us if we’d sell the coin when it hits a certain price to buy the watch and when that will be?

Wrong way to think about it! All that matters is what the coin is worth NOW. It's a massive fallacy to say "I only invested xxxx amount so it's OK to be frivolous with the resulting cash". Fact is that it is now worth yyyy, and you can buy whatever you want with that cash (after tax). The question is, do you want to spent it on that watch vs all the other things you can spend that amount of fiat currency on? (I'm an not involved in crypto for reference).

Regardless, it's a great watch. I'm not trying to put you off buying it... just making sure you keep the amount of cash in perspective :)

Love the GMT meteorite, I’ve been waiting for mine for a while (AD). In the meantime, watching BTC grow has been entertaining and rewarding. I wouldn’t trade one for the other, imo. Both are worth owning long-term…

Thread is pretty much worthless………when my baseball cards hit 60k I’m going to buy a meteorite gmt to……but it will be 80k then….so I’ll wait longer and never get it……..then if I have to flip a Bitcoin to get one I never will get one because shitcoin is 49k now and gmt 66k lol……………*♂️
