Congratulations to your wife on picking up such a beautiful and rare piece Gary. I hope she enjoys it for lots of years to come and can wear it on many a special occasion.

It definitely has more of a wow factor than a rainbow Daytona to me, literally a showstopper! Just be careful with those bergeon screwdrivers….

Does your wife thinks the watch is heavy ?
That was my biggest concern, but actually we left AP then did some shopping for a couple of hours, then got the train home, then went for a quick dinner and in all that time she kept telling me how much more comfortable is was than even she expected. So no, not heavy at all, but she did have 6 links removed, so that helped.

AP is leading the luxury watch category in this regard and I know it's a wise business move as the demand can come from more folks.

It was the marketing that brought this one to my wife's attention, before I would have in due course, and that made her quiz me about it, and in my marriage my best ideas are the ones that my wife thinks are hers.

AP were actually very clever, they didn't just pay lip service to their idea of marketing these as cross over pieces, they went further and altered the bracelet to incorporate more removable links. My wife removed six of them.

It's nonsense to even utter, but the WG one is the understated one :)

The short answer is about 3 months but that included Xmas and the Omicron. AP went above and beyond on this one.

***I needed to edit this one as I don't want it to appear disingenuous. The timeline on this was super fast and not indicative of anything other than some extreme assistance from AP London and HQ. There were many elves that applied their magic to this. There is no question this was a wish granted.

Hm, so what's more difficult to get allocated - the cake or the openworked? Or is one the customary prelude to the other?

The cake was a 'unique piece' with custom icing :) Although I know of another cake in another country for another APer, so let's say 'limited edition'

The cake was simply AP showing their class.

As I understand it, and as one would expect, the elves in Le Brassus are exquisitely skilled craftsmen and engineers. Every day they create perfect machines that all built to amazing tolerances - just as we'd expect.

However, the gem setting for the bezels is one key area where the 'artists' interpretation comes into play. A real elf applies his/her artful eye to get the best blend from coloured gem to the next gem to make the best possible rainbow. It is the gem setting in the bezel that takes the time - that's art. I love knowing that.

They are polarising for sure. Loud and brash and showbiz, except when you put one on a lady.
