It's weird being the same age as old people.

SIDE NOTE: These days James Bond wears an Omega Seamaster but Sean Connery wore a Submariner ref 6538 in Dr. No in 1962, which makes the Sub the original Bond watch. The ref 6538 is called the James Bond as a result. Why not, it’s a killer watch, or at least a watch worn by a spy with a license to kill.

OP wishes to be known, his posts are just full of air and disclose an immense lack of brand knowledge.

I don't think there's any reason to be rude to Bert. And there's no reason to blame him. In addition, anyone can start a thread here. If you don't like it, you don't have to answer.

Hi Bert,

I suspect some of the sensitivity comes from there being more frill threads here that threads with content. Along with the rise in demand for Rolex watches there has been an influx of individuals who know little more about the brand than the nicknames and current pricing. After way too many let's name the new release threads many of the more serious collectors feel a loss of what used to be a more technical and historical forum. You essentially put your foot in it by jumping straight to nicknames without getting the lay of the land. At any rate welcome. Don't be dismayed. I hope your business is doing well. I've a friend who's a Jeweler and also a Rolex aficionado. I also know that not everyone is interested in the same things. When I started getting into Rolex he already owned a nice PM Daytona but truly his interest was little more than owning a nice watch ultimately. That's a fine perspective as well.

I’m fine with any nomenclature that allows more people to know what we are taking about.
Someone gets it.

Also this.

In the end, some of you need some whimsy in your life. While I don’t love every nickname that sticks to a watch reference, I do enjoy that some people are creative enough to come up with such things. It’s fun and we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously. After all, these are anachronistic pieces of jewelry. No need to dog pile on everyone… sheesh.
