Perhaps sweet isn't the right word to describe the taste ...

Whats the opposite of bitter (like an espresso taste)? That's tea to me.

I guess its an acquired taste, but I'm going to try some of the suggestions here

That sounds interesting! I looked around to see if it is available here and to my surprise I found an English shop near to me that have this tea. However, I don't know the best way to make it in the proper way? So, may I ask what is the best way to make this tea?

Some will disagree here (Milk in first or last)

Boil the kettle and put 2 tea bags or two spoons of loose tea into a tea pot, pour boiling water over the leaf/bags and leave for 3 or 4 minutes. Pour a small amount of milk into a cup and then pour the tea into the cup. Tea tastes bitter at first so you may want to add a tea spoon of sugar.

Of course, one can cut this down by putting milk into the cup, teabag into cup and then pour boiling water in. Stir a spoon around until it is a golden brown and then enjoy.

Many will say that the milk should be put in last. They are heathens.

We have tea almost every evening. I take the easy route with Tazo Green Tea using k-cups in the Keurig. My wife on the other hand has a whole ritual to prepare her tea and she likes a bunch of different versions from Republic of tea.

Dave, after reading how you civilized Brits prepare tea and compare it to what I have been doing I feel like a Barbarian.

I'm very fond of English breakfast type tea and even builders tea but if I had to plump for one and only one it would be Earl Grey

Been drinking green tea (occasional coffee) since 2005. This is my current favorite.

What is your favorite Tea?

Some great ones here to try. I like the sound of that Yorkshire Gold and will look for it. And the Bigelow Vanilla Chai sounds good too.

I grew up on Salada tea and have stuck with it. I love adding honey when we have it, and sometimes add a bit of milk to it as well, but only once in a while. Also love a graham cracker or some ginger snaps with it.

(Oh my God...I am my Nana)

Hot sweet Javanese tea on a hot day is so surprisingly refreshing. And I also enjoy rooibos.

Thanks Dave! I will try this method later this week, if only because I have never drunk tea in such a way. To be honest, now I feel a bit like someone who has only drank alcohol until now, but has never tasted a really fine wine... I think soon I will be a believer

What is your favorite Tea?

I hesitated to join the fray, as I might come across as a bit of a tea snob. I thoroughly enjoy Oolongs and other Darjeelings including some of the white teas. All loose leaf, never a tea bag. Some of my favourite Oolongs are: Taiwan Oriental Beauty and Da Hong Pao. A tea estate, from which I order large bulk volumes is:

https://www.okaytitea.com

I’m especially fond of their Golden Wonder and their Treasure Gold varieties.

I’m a purest, when it comes to the flavour, so I don’t add milk or sugar. I love to enjoy the unadulterated essence of the tea on its own.

I’d second Lapsang Souchong for a change now and again - nice sort of woodier/ smokier taste. Or Twinings English Breakfast as a “go-to” regular tea.

I dropped coffee back in 2019 after realizing it was affecting my sleep cycle and being shocked after calculating how many mg of caffeine I was ingesting each day. It was a two week affair dealing with the severe caffeine withdrawals and many have no idea how bad said withdrawals can be. Since then I drink black tea, usually English Breakfast, although I have enjoyed the variety shown in your photo a few tines. I drink mine black, no sugar and certainly no honey

Depends on how much tea you drink.

Quote from webmd.com:

English breakfast tea offers many health benefits, its caffeine content may cause problems. English breakfast tea contains between 30 mg and 60 mg of caffeine.11 Sept 2022

But you know this?

Exactly that's why they call these "breakfast" and not "relaxing" teas

When I was around 14 years old my dad let me have a taste of his beer.

I thought "my god, how can anybody drink this swill??" A number of years later I had some after some sporting event and thought....."hmmmm...this is good."

I guess my point is, human beings can and do get used to ANYTHING.

It's tied into getting used to a taste, enjoying an experience like first beverage of the day, or a relaxing break etc etc.

I remember maybe 15 or so years ago we got into Teavana teas, and they were often situated in malls, with free tastings as you walked by. Over a couple of years we bought probably 50 different kinds of tea. But soon narrowed it down to about 2 or 3 that stuck.

I drink coffee with cream but would never muck up the taste of green tea with anything added. To me if you have to add anything, then maybe you don't like the taste of the tea that much.

Sorry Brits, and Canuckers.

Here come the pitchforks.....

I've read that green tea helps to decontaminate the liver more so than black tea however any light dive into comparing them becomes confusing and contradictory quickly.
