This one, probably. It's not a 15k watch. It's what the market will pay for it.

It's not like the old days when you could get them for 25% off from an AD, and that went on for years. Only the top clients will even be offered one, and those guys wont be flipping them. And the 116506 pricing will be right up there too
Exactly. This is going to be a tough one to get 2023 papers. Man im screwed.

I have a hard time paying over a 4 handle. 30's, no problem.

A rising tide lifts all boats. No way there’s a massive delta between newest and last generation. Imo.

What if production is much more than the older model, would prices still be in the $30k+ in the grey market?

Well said. The continued frustration of trying to hedge the Daytona market is not getting easier. A reputable dealer told me they’re getting ready to increase prices on the discontinued 116500. Seems inevitable. When the updated Daytonas hit the preowned market soon, and they will, I can easily anticipate that happening.

honest and obnoxious aren't mutually exclusive.

if someone posts on a forum explicitly saying that they (like 99% of everyone else) are not able to buy a daytona at the 15k MSRP, replying to them with "you'd pay 40k for a 15k watch" seems a bit obnoxious (whether or not it's an honest question).

just my opinion

And its not even a Panda dial. All black eyes on the Panda and all black subdials on the watch dial. Imagine what a real Panda SS would fetch.

People always seem to want most what they can't have. Human nature. "Exclusive"
means you and or a whole lot of others are excluded. I have never paid 1 penny over AD price for a watch and never will. No regrets buying the Rolexes and Pateks' I have for the price I paid for them and no plan to sell any of them ever so could care less what the price du jour might be. To my eye the new Daytona is not as good looking as the 116500 and I am glad I was able to get a black one from my AD 2 years ago. Price goes up or down makes no difference to me as I will pass mine on to my sons someday....never selling.

Sorry but doubt there is such thing as an order for a Daytona , especially and in the metro dc / va/ md market.

I’d guess it would fetch more than the average of the 116500. Certainly the notion of the “latest and greatest” would probably warrant $5k over the average. Just a guess though.

It will open extraordinarily high to test the waters, a huge piece of guesswork. The instagram crowd will be prepared to pay to show it off.

Don't forget, one of the principle things Rolex sells is prestige which is inextricably linked to cash and the displaying of status. Somewhere in the Rolex marketing plan is an explicit strategy that leverages the cash-prestige relationship. The brand loses most of it's value without the prestige value association.

It might be an uncomfortable association for some but its naive to ignore one of the brand's central value propositions.

Anyone Want to Guess Where New Panda Daytona 126500 Will Trade?

The old model doesn’t have a panda dial and neither does the new one?

It would be nice if it had one.

This is common to many products.

It will be high at the beginning as usual (premium to get it first) then it will gradually drop. Given the macro backdrop, high interest rates (can get easy 4-5% without taking too much risk) I don't think it will get crazy like during covid period.

I liked this forum better when this nonsense about pricing and value was against the rules and people were just into watches. Those days are long gone, sadly.

To be fair I've been reading this forum since prior to the ceramic sports models but never joined. Could be that situation. Even in 2020 they were shutting down price talk.

I suppose that’s always possible, but it’s just funny to hear members talk about the good old days, but literally didn’t join the forum or contribute one post until 2-3 years ago.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think it was ever against the rules to state what the general market or retail Value of a reference is. It’s more so against the rules to present a specific watch watch to the forum and ask “how much is my watch worth?”.

Actually was a member long ago, but, my email, etc, all got hacked so I got all new accounts, still read this forum, but, decided to rejoin...and yes, up until not that long ago all this investment, keeping in safe nonsense, etc. was not common or not allowed. Change is not always progress, and change is not always good.

1- its a stainless steel watch
2- its a rolex
3- rolex will never stop producing the Daytona

What are you really paying for? Is it the watch itself? Or something else?

MSRP + markup(what is this worth to you?) = price your willing to pay
