Reality doesn't matter Jay, only what you read on the internet.

I honestly think the 116500 wears slightly better, and I’m used to wearing larger watches, so I’m not overly sensitive to big case sizes.

It's the height of the 12 at the end link. Despite being shorter lug to lug the down turned lugs and matching end link creates more volume above and below the watch head.

Does that really make that much of a difference
Makes absolutely no difference, it's just forum infatuation. What makes more of a difference is lug length/width, dial changes to make is seem larger as an illusion etc. Case size is hardly relevant to fit.

126500: 49.34 mm

Span across watch crown to case (9 to 3):
116500: 42.6 mm
126500: 43.0 mm

What’s interesting (to me) is that the measurements suggest the 12 overall will wear smaller than the 11, but in pictures, the 12 looks bigger.

I totally agree with you my friend. To my eye the new reference looks larger.

I guess maybe it’s a bit like the 321 vs the 3861. By the measurements one is 2+ mm’s larger, but in real life I find the 321 wears about the same (maybe has an even larger looking dial)

I’m really not trying to turn this into an Omega thread

That’s interesting about the 321 vs 3861.

How does the thickness compare? Is the 321 noticeably thicker?

They wear very similar as far as wearing goes. I find the longer thinner lugs of the 321 help to balance it out.

In reality the 321 is a taller watch at about 13.7 mm. Not really THAT tall compared to a lot of divers, but compared to a Daytona it is.

I believe the sapphire 3861 is 13.2 (ish). I think the 3861 solid caseback is 13.5 mm.

I guess it just goes to show, dimensions only tell part of the story

What’s important about the difference between the 321 and 3861 is how they actually sit differently on your wrist. The lugs have a tendency to sit off the wrist on the 321 vs the 3861 which tends to hug the wrist more. They feel very different for me on the wrist.

Here is a Daytona 116xxx vs 321 photo I took for others the other day for another thread like this. The 3861 sits closer to the Daytona vs the 321. YMMV based on your wrist shape.

And much of that has to do with the shape of your wrist vs. mine. I find the 321 wears beautifully, the lugs actually hug my wrist. I remember that thread well and YMMV, and that’s Ok

Getting back to the topic at hand, 12 vs 11 Daytona … dimensionally they are very similar, but I’m sure due to subtle changes in the design, one will wear better for some than others.

After wearing the last gen for years, the new one wears larger for sure. Small changes here and there equal a larger wearing more substantial Daytona.

Truth. Just moved a few regular rotation pieces and the Daytona's get most of the wrist time.

The 11 series we'll be remembered like the old 5 digit Subs and GMTs for for and feel but with a much better bracelet. The new Daytona will go down like the first gen ceramic Subs and share the term "super Case".

This "new" case design is 20 years old and I've never heard anyone call it that.
