Oh hell, so the general consensus is I’ve blown it with the AD. Oh well, first world problems!

you did the right thing. DSSD is an expensive watch and I would say it is bit of niche given its size. I tired it on but didnt like it (too thick and big).

I’m pretty sure you waited forever for the sprite.

I don’t think a AD should get upset with the OP saying no. He realizes after so long that it isn’t the watch for him. If he had been able to buy it right away, well, too bad , you made a poor decision, but the DA made his sale. Life changes for people. The wait can be so long that financial situations can change and , when that watch finally arrives, perhaps something took precedence. Not everyone wants or can afford several Rolexes or 10K worth of jewelry. I am in the game as a novice, and I bought a watch I did not ask for. My wife is now wearing a Rolex that she didn’t know she wanted lol. Lucky for me it was “only” $7400. I may go grey for the watch I want and still don’t have, but then, it’s only been 9 months waiting.

You have no chance of getting the Sprite from an AD.
But take some comfort from the fact that even buying the DS, probably wouldn’t have improved your chances at all |

Thanks for these comments, I should add that after “refusing” the black Deep Sea, I did write (email) the AD to thank them for thinking of me and that it made my day to get the call. I guess time will tell if I’ve now been blacklisted. But like some have already said, I probably had little chance of being allocated a GMT Sprite anyway.
I’m not a flipper, genuinely love the Sprite (and also the new “bubbles” OP41), so would like to buy one and wear it everyday! |

I wouldn't put my interest down for watches I'm not actually interested in purchasing. Things change, of course, and you changed your mind, which is fine, you have that right. You may have burned your chance for the VTNR, but you didn't do anything wrong, it's just the silly conditions of the current market.
AD's used to actually work to make the sale and get your money. There are other brands that will still do this. Rolex isn't the be all, end all of watches. People should really ask themselves if they're willing to participate in this market, nothing wrong with walking away. |

Hear hear! I'd say to anyone on the fence with a DSSD to try one on and actually handle it, if you can - they wear great. Far better than the pictures would have you believe...

The AD SA really couldn't care less if you're a flipper or not. What they do care about it if you're a buyer. SA took the time to get you the watch you asked for. You said no. That's fine. But it's also fine if that SA doesn't want to offer you anything again (not even to mention a HAWT GMT)... So that's where you're at. |

You do what you feel is right. Don’t have regrets. Don’t buy watches you don’t want. Keep us posted.
