Which watches (Rolex or non Rolex) would you add? This is a continuation from a previous thread, the results of which convinced me to open up the net wider vs just requesting folks to choose from a few options.

For Rolex, I would have to go grey and for non-rolex, I would prefer to buy pre-owned and let someone else take the hit on depreciation. I’m also not a fan of vintage.

My current collection is a 321 Speedmaster Ed White and a 126710 BLRO “Pepsi” on Jubilee.

What would you add to this? 1 Ceramic Daytona? 1 green ceramic sub and a batman? 1 green sub, 1 pre owned Reverso and a Grand Seiko? Go crazy! Thought it would be a fun topic as the weekend winds down. Thanks!
Go big! Go bold! I’d get a preowned gold Daytona on oyster flex. No doubt. Well
Worth any extra $$ you throw towards it.

You have $35,000 to add any watches to this collection

Your question begs this question for me: are you looking for more diversity and rotation (as your mood changes), or, looking for a statement watch? For $35k, you could get a 2-3 "rotation" watches (sub, daytona, sky dweller etc). Or, a PM statement watch. All depends on the goal (I personally like rotation and diversity)

here are some ideas from my personal taste

118206 - no other brand lets you get a full platinum watch including bracelet for this $. You have to love the incredible feel/heft of platinum as the dials for this reference aren't all that exciting. I have this one with the wave dial.

128239 - this white gold daydate with the vignette dial and diamond indices is very beautiful. I don't have this one but sometimes wonder if I should instead of the platinum just because the dial is really nice.

126618lb - Hard to get bored of a solid gold blue sub! I don't have this one because I have the 116613lb with other stuff I don't want to sell!

oysterflex daytona - may be a little out of your price-range but I like the idea of these as they're basically scratch proof aside from clasp and sides of case which is pretty nice

or I would consider mix&match the below options:

rolex blue sub 116613lb (13K)
omega blue side of the moon aventurine (11K)
rolex milgauss z-blue (11k)
omega ultradeep original (11k) or 75th anniversary (13k new if you can get it)
omega seamaster 43.5 ceramic with titanium (6k) or rose (10k)
oysterflex yachtmaster rose (25K) or white gold (30K)
james cameron (15K)
twotone rootbeer (18-21K)
126713GRNR

quirky things I like: breitling new 46 navitimer dark green, omega planet ocean range aside from ultradeep above has some beautiful options: I like the goodplanet (6k) and the deep black chronograph (9K) but those are more esoteric and less universally appealing

I would consider a Bluesy and something along the line of a RG IWC IW358306, pocket the difference.

Not vintage but looks vintage -> Breguet Classique, as many complications as you can find (only if you are planning not to sell anytime soon)

That is probably overall the best deal in PT950 world.

Great idea. That or one of the Patek watches. A gold Daytona would also fit in nicely.

You already got two great sports watch, why don't you go for a classic watch?

Something like a Day-Date or a simple dress watch from PP, VC, or A Lange....

The golden question. Stuck between having 1 special watch or 2 amazing ones. Wish I had an answer!

I’d add a Submariner. Save the rest of your money and take the family on a vacation.

Anytime someone is spending that kind of coin I'm unlike to suggest Rolex, although a gold Daytona would be cool (a little more money). I completely agree with Matthew P. I would be looking at Lange (something casual to dressy, like that outsize date) or perhaps Czapek Drake or something else independent like Gronefeld (also a little more money). Perhaps AP RO. If you said $35K for a few watches Rolex would be in contention, but not for one watch and $35K!

Sell your Pepsi and upgrade to a Pepsi meteorite.

Otherwise, if you're only going to add, then I'd get a Day Date of your favorite configuration or a Daytona in precious metal of some sort, as some can be had in that price range.

I love the SS Daytona, but I couldn't bring myself to spend $28k-$32k on one.

Think of the buyers that spent that, and more, on the Oyster 124300 Celebration!

The length of this thread is a good indicator of how subjective many of our watch buying choices are. But we ultimately buy what we like and, at the end of the day, that is how it should be.

Cheers to all!

Very true. At the end of the day, if we have the ability to afford them, the heart will always get what it wants.

AP 15400 with a gray or silver dial. It’s a really special watch on the wrist. Alternatively, a DD40.
