After twenty six pages what more can be said? Maybe with the lack of TRF member business their 5131R inventory is overflowing.

Quiet perhaps, but in just three and a half weeks since Mike shared this unfortunate experience this thread has garnered 37,600 views.

How many lost customers would that translate into?

That is a lot of bad press. Karma can be unforgiving!

I'm sure they'll have plenty of buyers who'll like their 5131Rs next to 100K worth of newly acquired jewellery from Gougeberg.

I don't think Govberg lost many customers, as they have promised and delivered to probably many satisfied customers.

Agreed, anyone going through this thread, including me, would refrain from buying anything from them

I've purchased from them before, but wouldn't now after reading this thread. I've unsubscribed from their mailing list.

How many current and future Patek customers will be an acceptable attrition, before their actions have meaningful consequence?

Considering the markup on these watches (I'm referring to wholesale vs retail, not "tag ons"), it seems there's significant legitimate profit to be made on each and every sale. Even the least expensive Patek is now probably north of $20k, with many of us purchasing watches three to four times that amount.

With 38,205 views and growing, I'm sure there's at least one or two others that would have pause before patronizing such a business.

TL/DR: I'm not suggesting they'll close their doors, but the impact will be felt.

Personally, I think govberg could care less. This is not even a distraction to them.

Couldn't care less, but I get your point.

I just think that whatever profit they stood to make off Mike, will have been offset by whatever future sales they may lose.

Will it get their attention and change their actions? Probably not. But I wouldn't be so quick to underestimate the buying power of this forum. We may represent a small percentage of their actual customers, but I'm sure some other AD will be grateful to have us.

I don’t think it will affect their bottom line this year or next etc

That said, this is why you don’t burn bridges. At this point some small percentage of 37000 bridges have also caught fire. All because of one that was torched at will.

The fact that they couldn't care less is an indictment of why thus thread was started!

+1
That right there is the issue, and for some is the dealbreaker. AD's pull all kinds of stuff and its expected, but to not even care when they get called out for doing something questionable speaks volumes. Things happen, but how its handled after the fact and going forward is oftentimes the most important part.

I know if i knew my AD didn't care i wouldn't shop there either based on principle, but I'm weird like that.

That is probably the worst thing that has been said of Govberg in this whole thread!

If that is really true then I'm sorry but they don't deserve to be in business.

Especially when you consider our AD is getting on a plane at his expense to fly 7 hours to deliver me a watch and then fly back!!

Some people are passionate in sales others just spending their time behind the desk...

I noticed that the dealer in question's gray dealer arm recently changed their name. So perhaps it is a distraction to some degree. The timing of the name change spikes some curiosity.

I believe the name change is a result of them recently purchasing that grey dealer (whom owned that tradename) and assuming that name for their business.

Oh alrighty then, it was just a coincidence. I retract my previous statement.

I was thinking the same thing. If they cared, this incident would never have occurred.

I wouldn't take it lightly. I was given 6 points and threatened with being banned for joking about needing to purchase jewelry to get a watch to bring on vacation. Such comments are defined as a "campaign of hate" and "antagonistic behavior" on my transgression notice.

Consequently I have become an observer and nothing more.

I am neither judging or complaining just a heads up!
